Smallpox is a scary disease, indeed.
Dec 3, '02Joined: Oct '02; Posts: 12Well guess what, today My emergency department was offered to request the vaccine. There was a sheet to sign if interested and i struggled at first with the 1% mortality attached to it. I mean, i'm young and healthy, and the fact is that once vaccinated, i'm only 95% covered! 1000, out of every 1million FIRST TIME VACCINEES experience serious reactions (guess what new nurses, that's us) and the worst part is if your not careful you can inadvertantly inoculate your family! Wow what consequences! I'm doing it anyway!! ANd GOOD for all of you that WOULD IF OFFERED! As nurses we are educators, please everyone educate your self, good info at this site, just click away!

Whether this is ACTUALLY true, however, I have no idea and nobody else seems to know either.
Does anyone have better data than this? Feel free to post it.
Secondly, if there is a 1% mortality rate from this vaccine, and there are 2.7 million nurses in this country, then we could expect 27 THOUSAND nurses to die if we all took the vaccine. Surely we can come up with a more realistic number than 1%, people.
Again, Does anyone have better data than this? Feel free to post it.
No wonder people are reluctant, scared, etc. How about some accurate information, for starters!

In recent decades, scientists have shown that mercury is a dangerous neurotoxin. No surprise then that the high levels of mercury detected in many young children in America have been directly linked to permanent neurological damage, including autism.
Mercury is a biohazard.. now why is it in vacines?
