Official Statement Regarding Passing of Brian Short, Founder of allnurses.com, September 12, 2015

We are deeply saddened by the unexpected death of Brian Short, founder of allnurses.com. We respectfully request that you grant the company's employees, friends, families and associates privacy during this difficult time. allnurses will continue to support nursing professionals by providing an unparalleled peer-to-peer online community where they can share experiences and learn from and support one another.

Please use this thread to post your comments of condolence and gratitude for Brian who created this wonderful nursing community that has benefited so many.

I always thought of Brian as one of the "old timers". I thought he would always be here. He will be missed.

From the time I was a nursing student until now when I am sometimes asked to be supervisor, I have been extremely thankful for this community. It has been there when I needed to vent or ask a "dumb" question or just read the latest nursing news, or share in nursing humor. I have their extended family and community in my prayers.

Brian created a family of nurses from all walks of life, every specialty, young, old, new, not so new and from countries I've always dreamed of visiting and now have friends in because of his site. I can only hope that I have even half the impact on others as he has had on nursing and each and every one of us here on Allnurses.

Brian's words to staff were always centered around what would be a good experience for our posters. As other staff have said...its still just a shock. The wonderful and comforting words that you all are making warms my heart.

So sad and tragic. He will be missed by all of us who spoke to him online, he seemed like such a kind and caring person. Prayers to his family and friends.
