Boards of nursing drive me nuts

I am so tired of incompetency of the many state boards of nursing I have dealt with. We complete our application and include everything they ask for, then we get a notice: we need more information. "Go get more notarized forms, get your previous boards to send more info, get your certifying agency to send us more info, and if we don't get this in a "timely"manner, we will deny your request."The particular board (in the state located between Alabama and South Carolina)I am dealing with is making me nuts, I am applying for a reinstatement, I have sent everything but my underwear in triplicate and notarized. When I made my initial application, I wound up having to drive to the office and ask for a face to face to get my license.

Delay after delay, excuse after excuse had happened and my prospective employer was getting pretty upset.

Why is it that we as professionals have so little power to demand timeliness, efficiency and accuracy from our licensing boards?

The standard reasoning is that they are not "our" boards ...they exist to protect the public rather than to serve us. It does seem like some of them could do a much better job at being more efficient.
