Before Nursing School

Nurses General Nursing

Published

HI everyone,

I'm finishing up my prerequisites here in about a few months and plan on transferring. I need to know if i can move out Oklahoma where i would most likely fish school, and move around the New England area or illinois without any problems. Ive been reading about compact/ non compact states and have been nervous about even applying here in oklahoma because of this. What should i do? or can i get my RN here in OK work about a year or so to save money and then move or can i move right after finishing nursing school. I hope this makes sense. Thank you for the replies

If I were you, I'd stay in Oklahoma and obtain one to three years of acute care hospital experience before attempting to relocate to New England or Illinois.

Oklahoma's nursing employment market is kinder and gentler on new grads than the aforementioned areas you've mentioned. Get some experience before moving.

Then obtain a license by endorsement from the board of nursing in the state where you wish to relocate. Start the process at least three months before you move out of Oklahoma. Good luck to you.

Thank you for the reply. i will most likely do that even though I'm dying to get out of this state.
