Back for BSN and hate it!

I went back to complete my BSN and I am ready to throw the towel in!
I completed 2 semesters, this is my third, and I am crying my eyes out because I can't do this anymore!
I know critical thinking is a big part of my job (career) but I don't get these test questions! I can't think the way I need to!! :chair:
I've been a nurse for a little over a year, and I am just DONE!
I wanted to get htis degree toopen options, and maybe looking at advanced practice. NOPE!!
I don't know what I'm going to do from this point, calsses started last week. I really just don't want to do this anymore.
What is wrong with me?? Has anyone else ever felt this way? :trout:

Maybe you are just a bit burned out and need a break from school right now. You said that you were a nurse for a bit over one year. That in itself may be stressful if you are currently working and just getting used to being a nurse at all. Are you able to get a percentage of your tuition back? Maybe just take some time for yourself. You should still be able to return at a later date. Good luck!

Come on, don't you just love going to class for the enjoyment of learning. :nono:

Really, I think you need a break. You really haven't taken a break between programs.

After you have taken a break, you can go back. You may need your BSN sometime in the future. You may suffer a work related injury or even a non work related injury or illness that will prevent you from going back to bedside nursing. You will need that BSN to use as a stepping stone to returning to gainful employment.

I work nights and attended my RN-BSN program afterwards. I sometimes had classes from 830 AM to 5 PM and I used to go back to work for 12 hours. I sometimes went home to take a quick shower and get a bite to eat and off to work.

Many time I felt depressed and so tired of doing this work/school thing. But I made it through. You can too. Keep your head up and get done with your BSN. Good Luck!

I totally understand your concern. I didn't have other means to alternate my work schedule. Some supervisors can be you know what. I managed well considering the circumstances.

I felt the same way but stuck with it. It is very difficult but you'll be so glad that you hung in there.:studyowl: It seems like forever but just remember that it will come to an end. How many more semesters do you have to go?

Hey.... let's face it. School SUCKS! :trout:

But, sometimes we have to deal with the hassle to get where we want to be.

You have 3 options:

1) Abandon your hopes of advanced practice, management, etc for all time - and quit school.

2) Drop out for now; and return when the stress level has backed down some. If this is the option you choose, ease back in to school slowly; semester in then semester off.

3) Grit your teeth, steel your determination; then drive on through to your goal.

Nothing in life worth having is easy.

I jsut graduated and felt exactly like you did for the entire 2.5 years. You don't have to like it, or make great grades, you just have to do it one day at a time. Don't quit because you'll regret it. Keep on keeping on.

I decided to "take a break" and it lasted 15 years.

I really do ant to do this, and maybe I have too much on my plate this semester.

I wanted to go full time this semester so that I can hurry up and get this over with. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I had someone tell me today that I have time to finish, no hurry. Not in my mind:nono: I want this over with so i can move on. Maybe I need to slow down. Pluss I have a chemo class starting for my job nect month (every Tuesday for the month of October)

No need to hurry, right?

Hang in there! My nursing research class is making me nuts right now and I feel like quitting too. I am going for my MSN and took the 15 yr. break between the BSN and MSN. I wish I had not waited so long. You might be burned out from school, but maybe you are still in that school mode and that can help you. I went from ADN in June to BSN classes in Sept. way back when. I am truly glad did it. I wish I had had a clue about what I would have liked to do for the MSN back then, but I didn't. Do what is best for you, but know that you never know what lies ahead. If you have the time to go right now, try to stick it out. Maybe part-time would be good. I took one BSN class at a time for three years w/ tow babies thrown in there too. Best of luck to you. I will think of you when I am struggling w/ my research class. You can do it. If you got through the ADN, you know you are a smart person. You can get through this too.:typing (P.S. I am a one fingered typist, how bad is that?)
