I am being audited for years 2012 - 2014. I have insufficient CEUs 13/30- has anyone had experience in this ordeal and success at escaping penalty?

Is there some reason that you think you deserve to "escape penalty"? The rules are simple and clear enough and everyone knows them (or, at least, is responsible, as a licensed professional, for knowing them).

My state takes a very dim view of falsifying your renewal information. It usually results in a formal ding on your license and a significant fine.

You didn't meet the requirements and possibly falsified your renewal application in staying you had sufficient CEU. Aside from having alternate CE (taking collegiate or graduate level classes, publication, teaching, presenting) deemed acceptable by your BoN, you are not likely to escape penalty (fine and sanction).

I've never had experience with your situation because I make sure that I meet the minimum requirements, plus a few extra for breathing room. I highly doubt that you will escape a fine and disciplinary sanctions on your license. Quite frankly, you deserve them. Part of being a professional is ensuring that you meet the obligations to maintain licensure. Please learn from this experience and make sure you meet licensure requirements at every renewal period in the future. There is an abundance of websites that offer free CEs, such as nurse.com and CEDirect.com. Take advantage of free offerings.
