Anyone one allergic to carba mix and thiuram mix?

I was recently diagnosed with an allergy to carba mix and thiuram mix. The mixes are usually in gloves and gowns and anything elastic. The chemicals are rubber accelerators. I have found Ansell makes a type 4 allergy glove. I was wondering if anyone other nurses have develped this allergy and if so any surgery nurses? If so, what brand of gown do you wear? Also, how do you live with this. I am tired of the itching, pain, crying, and being on steroids. Please help and hopefully there is someone out there living in the same pain I am. I want to continue to be an OR scrub nurse. I have only been a nurse for almost three years. I want to continue to enjoy and advance my career as a OR nurse. Thank you.

can you wear nitrile gloves underneath, or get sterile nitriles? i just read an article indicating that or scrubs who double-gloved had fewer blood exposures, so this could be a win-win for ya.

Specializes in OR.

Duraprene by Allegiance are for me (thiuram mix allergy too!)

Look for other things that you might be sensitive to in addition-- there's a lot of cross-allergenicity to papaya, avocado, and Brazil nuts (!).

OP, how is it working out for you?
