I have one last week a boy I will call liam had been in hospital after having a accident with his leg when he was admitted we found out that he had got pneumonia bless him anyway he went into respiratory distress the poor boy he ended up on ICU and intubated a few days later I went to see hoe he was and I found out he had died friday night at 11.00pm. I went to the staff loos and broke down in tears

This was so sad and I give me love to the parents of this boy:crying2:

Hey Melz,

I am not a nurse YET, but I have been a 911 paramedic for a lot of years. I have seen more than my fair share of youngsters meeting an untimely death. I hope that you can find someone to talk to about how you are feeling, maybe get some counseling or something like that. For too many years, I didn't follow that advice and kept so many feelings to myself.

For the longest time I was visited almost every night by "ghosts" asking me WHY I didn't save them. But you know what? I came to realize that there is only so much that we as humans can do. Everything else is out of our hands.

WE LOVE WHEN WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY, WE CARE WHEN THE CHANCE HAPPENS, AND WE GRIEVE WHEN WE HAVE TO. This is not the first death that you will see, but you will remember it always. How you deal with it is either going to be healthy or unhealthy - so i hope that you find the RIGHT way to take care of yourself.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this. I hope you see it will make you better able to care for your families of your future patients. my prayers go out to you and for the family too.
