Any Postpartum nurses out there?

Nurses General Nursing

i am a new grad and i finally got a job that is permanent and will not be rescinded like my last one! i am very excited, it will be in postpartum, but i only had 1 day in my clinical rotations in postpartum. this is not couplet care, i will be the nurse for the mom- there are separate nurses for the babies. i was told i may need to help w/ the baby if the nursery nurse is busy or if i have time, but they really want me only for the mom (i really wanted to take care of both) .anyways, from my experience in clinical , i loved all of the teaching i was able to provide and my experience overall. most of my classmates hated that rotation and said they were bored - in my experience, i sought out opportunities and felt i was able to do thorough assessments and alot of teaching. i really did like it and think it would be a good stepping stone to l&d, nursery or even nicu.

i was hoping someone can give me a typical day in that department? i know what my experience was, but i would like to know what other nurses think..
