Amazing but true..got a phone call today with on the spot interview for Worker's comp case manager with Integrated Care Management!! Apparently the recruiter had come across online resume. She questioned me for over one hr, very nicely on my entire career. She seemed pleased with answers. I was in no way prepared to interview but went wiht the flow. She stated she will be in contact towards end of the week and then there will be at least 2 more phone interviews then possibly one in person. I have many years HH case management but zero in WC.

Any comments, suggestions would be welcomed!

I would love to find a job like that! I just graduated last year from nursing school but used to be a licensed work comp adjuster. I worked med-only claims (no lost time, although I was trained on how to dispense benefits if if needed). Usually the RN for a work comp company reviews medical reports to see if the on-the-job injury fits what the doctor is treating. Work comp does not pay for "maintenance" care, i.e. ongoing spinal manipulations from a chiropractor. If you have any questions let me know and if they are hiring in Texas, let me know too!

I have 23 yr experience as RN, so I feel I would be successful and loved the autonomy of homehealth work. Working out of my home would be good with me. I would just like to have a bit more insight so if I get more interviews I can be better prepared then today.

Good for you...but I am a little jealous. I remember a thread you wrote a little while ago...see how things turn out? You are perfect with all your experience and "street knowledge". The two components absolutely necessary for that position. I think you will love it,...good luck! Peace!

Excellent news! I'm really glad to hear that. The specific nuances of worker's comp etc can be taught. Extensive experience in a variety of areas and confidence in decision-making is what you hire for. You have that. Please keep us posted.

I do not understand..why would you be jealous?? I was so shocked to get this call, I had stopped applying as I was just plain tired. The past year has been too much.. I really can not see myself doing patient care now, and while case management interested me for many years.....I had been told no thanks enough to stop even looking at it.

Now I am aware my resume does interest many.. some see me with too many jobs, living too many places..others as diversified and useful.

To be honest if I get a another call I will be surprised, pleasantly but nonetheless surprised. Most of today's conversation was what, where, and why about my life. Very little about the job or even any who, what, where on their part...hence my reason to ask for info. Plus I did want to share...they had many jobs in many states on their web site.

I just think it is a great job. Something different and maybe a job, that would have kept me longer in the field. I hope you take the job. But, maybe I read it wrong, did you get an offer? After what you wrote in the other thread, your moving around should have no bad effect, in fact I think your exposure to different areas, would help. I also think your age and experience is what they need. More important, I think it will satisfy you. Patient care is out of the question for most of us at a a certain age. This just seems so perfect! I really hope this is your niche, at this point in your life. Peace!

No, I did not get an offer, just the opening interview I suppose. She said she would call back end of the week to set up another phone interview. The woman seemed to be an HR recruiter, medical but definately not a nurse.

So we will see. Thanks.

The reason they spent more time on you and your life, and not "the job" is they were seeing where you are coming from. Their job is to expose fraud, among other things. Not all folks can do this and the only way for them to know, is to ask questions and see how you respond. They don't come out and ask for specifics, they know people tell them what they want to hear. Instead, they catch you off guard. How do you think you did and do you think you can change from patient to company advocate?

Okay.. good point. I think I did well, I may have rambled a bit but I was very open and truthful. So unless I gave too much information?? it went fine. Yes, I could switch to company advocate over patient advocate. Funny you mentione that as on their web site they actually has a section on case manager stories where they "Made a difference in a patient's life".

Interviewer never tried to re-direct the conversation, she merely asked a few questions about each job.. like why did you leave ( better opportunity/advancement of career), why did you go back to FL multiple times(parents lived there and I was the doting daughter). She outright said my taking time off to care for parents was the right thing to do and any employer who felt different had a problem in her opinion.

Like I said she had medical background but was not a nurse and she asked more about who I was then any nursing specifics. She did say they only hire a certain type of employee as you work from your home and this is not a "hand holding" type of job.

It was different from any interview I ever had but she seemed pleased with my "story".:D
