Do you happen to have any tips or pointers? I am literally starting from scratch. I am nervous about the change, but feel it will be a good one for me. I do have one thing to ask. Was there anything when you started that your stomach could NOT handle and did it change?
No things my stomach couldn't handle. I do have a yuck factor with bloody teeth being loose. But you don't see much of that in nursing.
Most normal human beings don't like to see or hear someone throwing up. Like maybe the first 10 seconds of dealing with it you think...blech!....but then your mind goes into the "fix it" mode, get an emesis basin, get some antiemetics, assist the patient however you can, you just deal with it.
Do you have kids, pets, family members? You will have had to deal with some "yucky" stuff if you do.
There are many posts on Allnurses about nurses almost or actually fainting, including me. Put fainting into the Allnurses search.
