Administration or Nursing?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi all, I am a current MHA student, and have recently been thinking about going into nursing (I have a bachelor's in a non-related field). My question is, have any of you made the transition from administration to nursing or vice-versa? Any thoughts on the transition? Which field would you rather be in? The hours and pay for administration are huge pluses, but I am also thinking about which area I would truly be happiest in...thanks for any thoughts/advice!

Administration and nursing are so much alike that there are graduate/doctoral degrees available that incorporate them both. Floor nursing involves a lot of critical thinking, how to best use resources, make quick decisions, get along with others----. Many administrators in health-care facilities are also nurses. So you would be able to use your education no matter which path you take first.
