3 nursing jobs in 2 years. Unhirable?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Without getting into too much detail:

I've had 3 jobs.

1. Assisted living facility: Fired after 2 years

2. Clinic: Quit after 3 months

3. Assistant living facility: Fired after 3 months

My resume looks bad. I wanted to not include my last job but when recruiters ask what I did during those 3 months, i reallly don't know what to say. I really don't want to discuss why I got fired (you can view my post to see how bad of a nursing I am).

At at my Core, I love my job and feel that with all the lessons I've learned, I will be a great fit someone else if given the opportunity. I am working for an agency as a per diem nurse and my job was cancelled this morning. I am afraid of not being able to pay my bills.

Thanks to to all in advance

^ Alrighty, and with that comment, yup, gonna be another one of those threads.

Move along

I've been to many psychologists and many SSRIs. You are not in the position to say what I need because I'm still getting help. If you find my comment disturbing then that's your opinion. I was bullied all my life and told I was too dumb to be a nurse and graduating nursing school was my proudest moment.

Oh knock it off. You know darn good and well you were alluding to suicide with your words and as a nurse I AM in the position to tell you what you need. I never said you shouldn't be a nurse, I never said you were stupid and for the love of god I was NOT bullying you.

You guys don't have to worry about me posting anymore because I'm officially done with it

I didn't say you were bullying me. And I never said anything about suicide so... I was alluded to my career and my livelihood

I appreciate everyone who has supported me. Maybe I will fit in a different path

Am I able to keep my license if I am not working as a nurse?

Yes, at least in most states. You can place your license in an inactive status so your renewals are not as expensive, or for the matter of convenience in getting a job quickly, you can keep your license active. But you need to check on your state Board website to insure that you can keep your license without paid nursing work.

Check the requirements with your board of nursing. A hiatus shouldn't hurt you even in a state with a minimum practice requirement.

And how do I relinquish my license

And how do I relinquish my license

Do Not relinquish your license. Keep it active and use it when you are better.

You have posted multiple threads that hit on the same topic. I'm sorry if I offend you by saying this, but it's becoming redundant and seems that you are just attention seeking at this point.

I've written you a lot of heart felt replies as have others, but it seems you are taking none of that advice to heart, when you come back here 2 days later posting another topic looking for the same advice you have already been given.

I wish you nothing but luck.

I'm not dismissing your advice and apologize if I seem attention seeking. I just don't have anyone to talk to. When I got fired, I just put out a post and received overwhelming support and it felt really good. It's been 2 weeks and no job. My bills are coming up. So I'm here again looking for support. My family says the same thing. That I want attention. Really I just want someone to talk to. This is why I bottle things up.

Nursing is the only thing I love and keeps me going for lack of better words. I'm afraid of what's gonna happen if I give up on it

Sorry but this is as close to admitting suicidal ideation as anyone can get.

I didn't say you were bullying me. And I never said anything about suicide so... I was alluded to my career and my livelihood

Then quit with the dramatic wording and the veiled threats. I said what I said because I was disturbed that it sounded like you had gotten to a very dark place. You respond with snark. Nobody is going to want to help you when you lash out.
