If you won the powerball lottery, would you keep your nursing license or turn in your badge?

Would definitely keep my license, would work my regular schedule for a while, anyway. Would pay off my bills with a chunk of the winnnings, the perhaps go back to school and become a lawyer, specializing in issues involving holding administrators of hospitals responsible for mistakes made due to short staffing. :chuckle

hmmmmm no powerball for me *bahhhh canada*
but if I won the lottery I would keep my license active , work part time (extremely part time)
and look into opening a place of my own , in the community, I'm picturing like a huge old victorian style house or something , part of it would be an office , with an in house dr , part of it would be for new moms, part of it for seniors, part of it for the homeless , part of it for a teen recreation center......woah gonna need a bigger house, or two or three but thats what I would do
of course I would run the place but travel the world, make my family comfortable, help out some friends, give to charity, save a good hunk of the money so my future family can also be comfortable
so on and so on .......wow its amazing and depressing at the same time to think about all this
so yeah I would keep my license but not do med/surg nursing anymore.
wow 325 million american
thats like what a billion canadian ?
cheers !

I suppose you all know that out of the three winning numbers of that big powerball win, a twenty year old from Georgia was one of the three winners? Wow! She will receive - after taxes - $40Million Beautiful Bucks! :) I sure wish I was her best best friend about now! :chuckle

well i hadn't had time to read everybody's post.......but.......
i would keep it up, and probably work prn one day a week or something? although the thought did cross my mind, that every patient and family member would be waiting for me to screw up!
then again, it depends who, what, or how? i was spending my time? maybe i wouldn't want to work at all!!!

CEN35, you could move to a foreign country where no one knew you were wealthy, and work as a nurse one day a week over there while you travel your butt off sightseeing, and so forth. You know...like the movie stars do who get tired of being noticed here in America -- they just pick up and move overseas in a little french chalet or something. Now, that idea sounds heavenly to me, so if I ever win the lotto, I may do just that! :chuckle :)
ok well???? yeah that sounds like a good idea! however, i would have to think austrailia or nz to be the places for me! i have never had a desire to go to europe.
all that money is meaningless if you are not happy! it's not a cure all.

I would renew my license and as soon as I had the money AND the license in hand, I would make a point to go in and tell my very ineffective and unsupportive nurse managers EXACTLY what I think of them...Hmmm, might even do that for some docs that have it coming...MIGHT even get in touch with some old boyfriends who did me wrong...(this is getting out of control..)

I WOULD KEEP MY LICENSE THAT I WORKED HARD FOR AND NOT JUST THROW IT AWAY. i WOULD RETIRE AND DO SOME NURSING RELATED WORK ON A OCCASIONAL BASIS JUST FOR FUN. THEN IF IT WAS A HASSLE OR SOMEONE GOT SNOTTY ABOUT IT I COULD JUST SMILE FINISH MY JOB AND TELL THEM I WOULDN'T BE BACK BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TO WORK AND IT WAS JUST SOMETHING I DID FOR FUN.
