Just wondering if anyone could tell me if this is normal or not. I'm only in my 2nd semester of nursing school and we haven't covered adult health yet. My husband asked me this morning if it is normal to feel "stuff" moving through your intestines. He said he feels movement on his left side 2-3 inches below his ribs and 3/4 of the way toward his left side (measuring between his umbilicus and left side) within 10 minutes of standing up after eating. He said it doesn't hurt it just feels weird. It usually lasts about 30 minutes--not constant, on and off. This has been happening for about a week now. If anyone has any info I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

1. It may be just that your husband has noticed what is normal peristaltic movement of the bowel. When you eat, your gut starts moving to push the food (or waste) through.
2. Could be wind!!
3. The lower left of your abdo is where your sigmoid colon is. It is very common to have Diverticula there. Diverticula are pouches in the bowel wall - kind of like a weak spot in a tyre. Very common in western society, most commonly caused by constipation. Make sure your husband eats fibre!!!!
