Hi everyone. During the past week I have worked some very long hours and have been downing coffee like there is no tomorrow. Last night I had some coffee and felt quite ill. I woke up in the middle of the night and my stomach really hurt, not a nausea-like hurt, but painful hurt. I have been able to eat, but my stomach has remained this way since last night. Does this sound like gastritis or an ulcer? If it is still this way tomorrow, should I be seen? Thanks for any input you may have!

There's only one real way to tell at that is with a scope. The people I've seen with gastristis in my experience haven't complained of very severe pain. A little unconfortable, but not much pain. Ulcer pain comes and goes.
I would definately be seen if the pain continues. It could be something serious as pain is a sign of something wrong.
Taking antacids like Pepid or Zantac might not be a bad idea. See if you get relief that way.
Good luck.
