Hello all,
I've been away for a long time, and I missed participating!
My goal is to apply to GA Baptist College of Nursing, among other schools. I called them today and as I was asking my questions, it came up that they typically do not accept online courses for transfer credit. How is this possible? There is no information on the website that says online classes are not accepted. Is there anyone here who attends GA Baptist that took their social science classes online? I'm so frustrated now.

It's an institutional thing there. All of Mercer is that way. My wife is faculty at the PA program and they have turned away students for that. Besides it's expensive. I was looking for a faculty position and was told that since a large portion of my MA was done online, they weren't interested.

Yes, GBCN is a very reputable institution. They are very dedicated to hands on learning as the program is three yrs of clinical experience for a BSN degree instead of two years that every other school in GA offers. I highly recommend the school. I am currently a BSN student in my junior year. I love it!! It is expensive, but you get an awesome education. There are many scholarship opportunities availabe out there and you really are prepared upon graduation. GBCN has an exclusive partnership with Piedmont hospital so many of the new grads go to work for Piedmont. Many of the new graduate nurses I have spoken to who were hired at Piedmont and started a 4-6 month residency program in a specialty area finished the residency earlier than the others because they had the extra year of clinical and it really makes a huge difference!! Good luck!
Thanks so much for the information. I guess I need to look elsewhere. I don't want to waste my time.
In most cases the only way to find out for sure is to pay the money and get an eval to find out what they need and what they accept. Any of the info you get on the side or as part of an unoficial eval isnt work what you payed for it.

How would they even know if the classes u took were online? I've taken several online classes, and they appear the same on my transcripts as live classes.
Thanks, that's a great point, although I will have to verify that the transcript doesn't discriminate between online classes and regular classes.

Just remember, once you pass the NCLEx, it doesn't matter if you had online classes or not. Almost all schools have online classes now. GB will catch up one day, like they have had to on other things.
