G-tube/J-tube syringe

Hey everyone, I was wondering, at your place of work, where are patients gastrostomy syringes kept? In the med cart or at the patient's bedside?

It's usually a part of an irrigation kit that is stored in the supply room. Every facility I've gone to has a supply room where you can find everything you need for patient care. If the nurse before you is considerate enough, they would keep a couple of kits in the patient's room for future use so the next nurse won't have to walk to the supply room to get one (same with wound dressing materials, wipes, etc).

When I worked LTC we only changed them out every 24 hours on the 11-7 shift so we kept several days' worth in the resident's room. Management didn't like it because they actually wanted us to have to walk to central supply every single time we needed something, but we quietly ignored them and did the sensible thing. Central supply wasn't exactly convenient, seeing as how it was situated far away from all resident care areas and was locked at night, with the SNF nurse the only one allowed to hold the key. So you had to go find that nurse, get the key, walk all the way down to the supply room and grab your supplies, walk back and find the nurse again, then go back to your unit. Total PITA.
