I was just wondering if the Potter and Perry Fundamental of Nursing is all the same. Like I was looking throught my sisters which is the 5th edition and published in 2002, if it is the same content as the newer edition? I'm not in the nursing prpgram yet, but thought since I had a break this semester and I can't sit around not doing anything, i could read that and do the study guide along with it?

To my knowledge, not at all. It might look similar on the surface, but a 2002 book is about 10 years out of date now at best. Some subjects won't change much if at all, but others might be a lot different.
FWIW, the Potter and Perry book is junk. Full of errors (typos, grammer, spelling, redundancy). Good luck when you get it, it's horrible.

Well one thing I can suggest as a 2nd year nursing student is to read up a little bit on what nursing is. The nursing process. And other things that don't go too into depth about specific nursing actions and interventions r/t (related to) specific pathophysiologic conditions. because those change with newer editions of books. Yes the book may be 10 years old but what nursing IS doesnt change too much in 10 years lol. I found that my first 2 basic and fundamental nursing classes were very confusing because I was a little timid about what nursing exactly was and what I would be doing. And especially learning about what the nursing process is. Your teacher will know you read ahead reguardless of the brand or year of book you read

It's good that you're thinking about reading ahead. You've got the mindset of a nursing student already! Good job.
If you know the exact book you're gonna need in nursing school, I suggest buying that one and starting your reading. If not, go for it and read your sister's book. There's no harm in that.
Thanks for all the replies, I'll read up on this one until i can ask about with one they use. Thanks for the comment 123wannabeanurse, I just hate going to class when a teacher is reading something or going over something and feeling so lost. 123Wannabeanurse are you in nursing school, and if so have you had any trouble on the math. I suck at math, so i've been kind of working on that portion of it.

As for an edition that old hmm I'm not sure but I know we use the 7th edition and my friend has the 6th edition and they are pretty much the same just a chapter off. So depending on how your school uses the book maybe wait to get it and then compare it with someone else.
