FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

I guess people will always want something fast. You get out of your education what you put into. Nothing comes easy, but these schools sure make it seem like it's possible. When I took my BLS class, there were 2 people that graduated from Concorde that actually asked me how to apply for RN jobs. ***** I asked them how were just taking the BLS class but already LPN's. They were not certified yet, had yet to actually see a live patient, had no hands on experience, and seemed quite uneducated. One lady actually asked me if she should fax a cover sheet with her resume. For real? These are the "RN's" that those schools put into the field if they actual pass the NCLEX. That scares me. They were also not even high school grads, but they had their GEDs.

I applied with 189 points, but I don't have micro yet. I'm taking it this semester. Mid term is tomorrow!

A lot of schools like Concorde are getting in trouble because if someone applies their basically given a seat. When they graduate their not getting all the terminology thats needed so there was articles out thats questioning their certifications. They go to apply for these RN jobs and get there and do not know anything at all. It has been a major issue, which is crazy!

Good luck!! Microbiology was so flipping hard but still pulled off an A.

I have Diane Fair for Micro. She is absolutely awesome. I don't think it's that hard, I love the lab part, growing little bugs is a trip. I thought Organic Chem was a lot harder. I'm finding that the class is like a hybrid, chemistry/anatomy class. Most of the terms aren't new, it's like a refresher class.

I took my daughter to the lab to show her the fly traps, pitcher plants, and other "pets" of ours. She loved it. I'm hoping she stays interested in the sciences and maths like her old man (me!).

The rest of that sounds crazy: BUT, I was a high school dropout; I am finishing my A.A. this semester, have a 4.0 college GPA, and applied to the nursing program with 235.2 points. So I am not exactly sure that statement is relevant... It's kind of offensive as my high school completion has absolutely nothing to do with my level of intelligence.

Awesome! But make sure that you dont post professors' names.

Check out the latest fiasco for Dade Medical... The CEO resigned because of pending litigation, fraud charges, and tampering of a government official. His criminal history includes but is not limited too: 1990, rape of a 15 year old (pleaded no contest, did time in the pen) and 1996, aggravated battery. I'm sorry, but these are not the type of people that should be leading the future of healthcare.

Amandawatcher, you are the exception, not the norm. Congrats!

Okay, so let's make offensive blanket statements about people on a public forum? LOL. That to me is ignorance, but hey you seem to have it all figured out. Up until now nothing on this website has left a "bad taste in my mouth".

has anyone taken statistics, any professors that y'all recommend?

Amanda I would agree with you. I did get a high school diploma and went on to take classes when it was FCJ..that was a waste of my time and my parents money because I failed most of the classes I took... Fast forward 20+ years went back to school FSCJ re-took all the courses i failed with all A's a member a Phi Theta Kappa, Presidents list every term and graduated with honors so how you got to where you are is irrelevant but it's desire to get where you are going that count. As future nurses it is reckless to make blanket statements about people because that can put preconceived ideas in your head and it could effect the way you treat that person so we must be very careful in what we say especially in public. I would also say the NCLEX is no walk in the park so anyone that passes it must know more than a little something about nursing.
