FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

Yep yep, that's it. The catch is that I was counting points for the 3 classes I'm in this semester (MCB, SYG, DEP). Those technically wouldn't count unless I was applying for fall. So that's -16 for MCB and 12 for both SYG and DEP. So instead of 239.5 I'm 199.5. I thought it sounded too good to be true. My NAT scores seem to have been really good. It was nearly a straight line at the top of the chart with one exception...apparently I'm not a good spellar. Thanks for the encouragement!

Your NAT and grades are exceptional. I have not seen a cutoff score higher than 199 or lower than 175. I have looked into the past like two years or so on this sight. I was bored and gathering info to tell myself I will get in with 198. I also am completing MCB now, but I don't think you or I will need the extra classes to get in. You can thank that awesome NAT score for getting you in a semester early! Congrats again!

Aye Ne, I am so so sorry that you did not get your total score up to where you would like it to be. I think you should go ahead and submit your application anyways, because you never know what may happen, unless you are trying to get into n/w only. Do not feel bad, because my total score right now is 169.96, so we are in the same boat. I am so glad that you still have a positive attitude...do not let go of it, because you can do it. I made a C in A&P 1, HUM, and, PSY1012 and that is what is messing me up right now. Oh also I made a B in college algebra. What did you make in college algebra? If you did not make an A, you can take elementary statistics (STA2023) to replace your score for college algebra. Statistics is a lot easier and I noticed that it covers some of the math that is on the NAT. 31 points is great!!! When you take it again and get another extra 31 more points or more, you should be good to go. Some other source s I think you should try is a basic biology book, google in basic biology concepts, as well as chemistry. I have a Cliffs Quick Review Biology book that I only got for $10 in the campus bookstore, and it is very helpful. Another option is you can perhaps check out some books from the library on biology, math, etc. to help you prepare. Do you remember seeing any physics on the test? If you emailed me after you have taken the test, I did not receive it.

Aye Ne and yourself should definitely apply. Who knows what the cutoff is going to be. You are right, you can't get accepted if you don't apply!

You are right MaleCNA84, but at the same time I know the chances are really slim for me, so why waste their time. I would probably faint if the score dropped that low because I know it's highly unlikely. Does anyone know if the nursing office will be open on Saturday being that the cutoff off date falls on a weekend this time?

Don't be sorry, I'm not:). I have a few things in my life that I need to get in order so I see it as a blessing. When it is time, God will make a way for me. I am still trying to decide if I am going to apply. I doubt it though. I made a B in College algebra, but for me I don't think it makes sense for me to take extra classes. My focus will be the Nat because I have room to increase my points. Thanks for all of the information. Good luck to you!

Just when I thought my packet was ready, i might mot be able to apply. I took PSY at st johns and i got my official transcript and gave it to be evaluated on monday. The advisor at deerwood said it was not on my connections transcript yet. He said worst case scenario was to just include my st johns river transcript even though the nursing program wants it all on an fscj transcript. Oh i feel horrible. Any other ideas? Its the only thing i need.

Dang, that is messed up. What is your total points w/o PSY? are you trying to get into n/w classes? The only thing I can think of to do is to go ahead and apply w/o the PSY, especially if you already have a high score. Also, you should contact the nursing dept. to see if they will accept the st john's transcript. You never know, they just might make exceptions. If not, you still may get in w/o it. If your total score is 187 or more and you are trying to get into the day classes, you are good to go.

If you really feel like now is not a good time to get into the nursing program, then that is a good way to look at it. You are right, God WILL make a way for you when the timing is right. Just continue to be patient in the meantime. Also, I think it would not hurt to apply and it will not be a waste of their time in my opinion, because you just never know what can happen and you get accepted. you are certainly welcome for the info.

Thanks Beatrice! You are so supportive and will make a great nurse, even more because you will know how to support your patients. That's a great quality. I wish you nothing but the best. You have a greater chance then me and I hope you finally get accepted.

Ouch, what is your total score without Psychology?

Just out of curiosity, do applicants with the specified medical work experience have a big advantage over those that don't? I feel like my score of 229 points would have no chance compared to those that have that score PLUS the work experience, which could amount to about 249 points?!?! Oh lord lol

Grrr I sent my application in and after I realized you have to send a copy of front and back of your CPR card, I only copied the front...

Your welcome and thank you. Keep a smile on your face and a positive attitude because you can do it and will. With mostly everyone having 200 points or close to it, I do not think I will get in this time, but i will have a better chance for the fall. My statistics class will replace my B in college algebra and my humanities class will replace the C I have in my other one which will bring my points up to 178.96.Then I will only need 12 more points to get me up to 190 and I should be able to get in. Therefore, I will retake the NAT in May. As hard as I have been studying, it shouldn't be so hard to get 12 extra points when i retake it. Also, my statistics class covers some of the material i remember seeing on the math section :)
