FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

Hello everyone. I feel like I have been waiting forever. I can't wait to find out if I am accepted or not. I am just preparing for the worst with my low score of 169.96, because it seems that everyone else has very high scores. Is the total number of students they accept for the summer term still 96?

I think they accept 144 seats into the program and 24 seats out of the 144 are accepted into the night and weekend classes.

They finally evaluated my transcripts I'll be mailing off my application tomorrow! Goodluck everyone!!

I am so happy you finally got that straighten out. Good luck to you too.

thank you for that infromation. I am so glad they accept more students for the summer term now, because it use to only be 96.

Hi everybody. I'm extremely late to the party and found this as I was looking for NAT information today. I just took my NAT and the lady at Kent campus student success center declined to tell me anything other than "go to north campus." It's my understanding that the point value everyone is talking about is the sum of (credit hours x grade) for the pre-reqs/general ed classes and the sum of your AA, RC, and INS NAT scores x .64. I have all A's except for a B in chemistry and a B in ENC1101 and scored 80/29/80 respectively for the NAT. So far as I can tell that's 237 points. Am I missing something?

Add the total sum of your Raw Scores NOT Percentile. Example: AA+RC+INS(.64)= Total

The numbers you need to add are the numbers on top.

I wish you the best, and no matter what don't stop short of your dream.

You are welcome! I hope that I am right, you have me wondering now. Well it is what it is, and we will just keep trying, either way.

Yep yep, that's it. The catch is that I was counting points for the 3 classes I'm in this semester (MCB, SYG, DEP). Those technically wouldn't count unless I was applying for fall. So that's -16 for MCB and 12 for both SYG and DEP. So instead of 239.5 I'm 199.5. I thought it sounded too good to be true. My NAT scores seem to have been really good. It was nearly a straight line at the top of the chart with one exception...apparently I'm not a good spellar. Thanks for the encouragement!

congrats!! you still did really good and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Now you can relax and wait for your acceptance packet to come. :)

I just received an email from Cheryl James and she said it is still 96.

I remember reading somewhere that the NAT has changed (or suppose to be changing). Anyone who has taken the NAT just recently this month or last month, can you please tell me what all you remember seeing in the science and math sections? those are my two weak areas that I need to focus the most on.

Your are welcome. Good luck to you, and congratulations on your score; 199.5 is good. Are applying for day classes or N/W. My spelling is not the best either. A perfect score on the NAT is rare. Amanda scored a 115.2  and that is as close to perfect that I have ever heard of. I know that it must be a good feeling. If you do not get in for the summer, which I believe that you will, with 239.5 points, you will have no problem. I think 240 points is the highest you can claim unless you can get the extra 20 for years of service according to the rules of F.S.C.J.

Hi Beatrice,

I emailed you, but I am not sure if you received it. I took the Nat Monday and increased my score by 31 points. But, unfortunately I don't think I will have a chance because my total score (even with a 31 point increase) was in the mid 160's. But, I improved a lot so I was just as happy. You would think I got in the program the way I was smiling walking out of there. It was a personal accomplishment for me and this one little thing made me feel empowered that I CAN do it, I just have to try a little harder next time. This time I took the test at Kent. Everything seemed the same EXCEPT the science section. The allied book in the bookstore FSCJ suggests helped me because I did a lot better this time. But, in preparation for me to take it again, I will have to find other sources. I brought up every section on the test and brought up my science score 24 points. I know 31 points seems like a lot to bring up and still not get in but in my case, I got a C in all of my sciences and if I had gotten B's or A's, I would definitely be in the running's. But, it's "All good". I am not giving up. If I brought my score up this much, I can bring it up a little more. I wish everyone the best. I would have loved to start, but not right now doesn't mean never, and that is good enough for me. I honestly can't think of a lot of the questions. The first time I took it I remembered a lot, and made sure I studied it and it wasn't even on this test. So honestly, unless you are really good in science I don't know how to prepare besides studying everything you possibly can and PRAY it's on the test. I am half way there because like I said the allied book helped, but as the only source it's not enough. I hope this helps even though I am sure, not the way you hoped but just continue to try your best.

Aye Ne, I am so so sorry that you did not get your total score up to where you would like it to be. I think you should go ahead and submit your application anyways, because you never know what may happen, unless you are trying to get into n/w only. Do not feel bad, because my total score right now is 169.96, so we are in the same boat. I am so glad that you still have a positive attitude...do not let go of it, because you can do it. I made a C in A&P 1, HUM, and, PSY1012 and that is what is messing me up right now. Oh also I made a B in college algebra. What did you make in college algebra? If you did not make an A, you can take elementary statistics (STA2023) to replace your score for college algebra. Statistics is a lot easier and I noticed that it covers some of the math that is on the NAT. 31 points is great!!! When you take it again and get another extra 31 more points or more, you should be good to go. Some other source s I think you should try is a basic biology book, google in basic biology concepts, as well as chemistry. I have a Cliffs Quick Review Biology book that I only got for $10 in the campus bookstore, and it is very helpful. Another option is you can perhaps check out some books from the library on biology, math, etc. to help you prepare. Do you remember seeing any physics on the test? If you emailed me after you have taken the test, I did not receive it.
