FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

i thought the exact same thing when i first heard about them. i really did! i too compared them to those other schools. but after much research i found that chamberlain college of nursing is completely different from those “career colleges”. it is nowhere near the same as concorde or sanford brown or any of those schools. the only thing they do have in common however is the costly tuition. chamberlain is regionally accredited and is accredited by the higher learning commission (hlc) and is a member of the north central association of colleges and schools and is also accredited by the commission of collegiate nursing education. i have called and researched the schools that i plan on applying to for my masters and all accept their bsn’s.

i also researched and found this: “the minimum standard you want in any university or college you look at is regional accreditation. if a school is regionally accredited, that means that most employers will recognize their degrees as genuine, their credits will be eligible to transfer to other schools, and you can be eligible to go on for more advanced degrees (like going on for a bachelors after an associates, or going on for a masters after your bachelors.) if a school is not regionally accredited, it's possible you could have difficulty with all of that.”

so being that it is regionally accredited by those commissions made me feel good about them. my interview went great today and i could start in july for their summer session. i have still turned in my fscj app just in case. and yes, you are right; fscj grads are looked very well upon! no disagreement there. fscj is a great program and is my first option, but if i can get my bsn in less time than i would gapping the two, and it is legit, than i am all for it!

Good deal! Thanks for sharing ur info, too. :)

No problemo! I honestly appreciate your info and concern too. I really do. I had the same concerns and said the same things to people I know. Well both apps are turned in now, so its time to WAIT...ahhhhh!!!! Im gonna go cRaZy!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this blog. I took the NAT today and turned in my application with 201.80 points, so hopefully that's enough to get me in!!! The lady at the front desk in the nursing office said that the highest number they ever took as the lowest to get in was 201.24 and that was last fall so I'm pretty close to that, but hopefully the bottom won't be that high!!!

Hi scrubsrus! thanks for sharing that info. Good luck on your application. Are you going for days or n/w? I wonder if anyone would know what the lowest score for n/w was in the recent past. hmmmm

Thank you. I'm going for days, but will take what I can get. Im just excited to have a chance at getting in, at least I hope and think so. Im not sure what. The cutoff for n/w was, but probably very high. R u wanting n/w only?

Yes, I work FT at a company that closes at 5p everyday and is closed on weekends. It's a great schedule.

I put n/w as my #1 choice and then days as #2. I hope I don't get an offer for days..I would have to seriously consider passing it up unless I could switch with someone. Is it me or is this the longest week ever?! lol I need July to come on so I can know my fate!!! :smokin:

I know what you mean. I turned in my application at the beginning of April. I am going crazy waiting. I am hoping for nights and weekends too. I have 212.8 points so not sure if its going to be enough for n/w. Are any of you taking medical terminology this semester to get a head start on the program?

Njcheyla, u should have no problem getting in for n/w with ur points. I can't wait either, it's going to be a long summer! Greeneyedgirl, no im not taking medical terminology this summer although that would probably help alot.

scrubsrus, I hope you are right. I am pretty confident that I will get a 'yes' but I am concerned with the amount of competition for n/w slots. From what I have gathered on other posts, n/w this coming Fall will be at Deerwood and there are only 24 spots available. eek!

greeneyedgrl, if I get in with 212.16 pts, then you are def in...I wonder who will find out first?...be sure to keep us posted.

I took Med Terminology a few semesters ago. I think it really helps; it certainly wouldn't hurt to take it. There are several online 8 wk courses avail. PM me if you want the name of a good professor; I still have the book available too. It was a lot of memorization though...I carried flashcards everywhere! lol

Specializes in Answering phones and studying. ;-).

Hi fellow Fall 2011 hopefuls, :-)

I'm new to posting on this forum but I've been reading along for awhile. It's scary and exciting to think that we all will soon be sharing a grueling 72 credit hours together. Fingers crossed on speedy acceptance letters. :-)

I've applied to both FSCJ and SJRSC, and I'm having a hard time deciding which program to choose (if I'm lucky enough to have the choice that is;-)).

Does anyone have any insight on FSCJ VS SJRSC?

XoXo,

Sugarbee

I am taking it right now online. I was just wondering if anyone else was maybe in the same class as me....but thanks. :D
