FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

That can't be right. Ms James emailed me not too long ago and said the spring 2015 deadline is October 1st. When I get on my computer I will pull the email up and copy and paste it on here. I really hope they did not change it that fast. That is so inconsiderate of them if they did. Ugh

Was that with the new changes...someone else had an email that said October 1st also...was the person from Admission apart of the nursing program. That person may not know

Go by what mrs James say not admissions ....admissions go by what's in the book ....and half the time they are students as well

Yes it was with the new changes. She included in the email the new application deadlines all the way up to 2016 if I am remembering correctly.

I will just warn you guys, be prepared for things you might find inconsiderate. It happens...all the time. Our semester started a week early and is going to end a week later than scheduled and most did not find out until orientation. Some people had work, vacations overseas and cruises planned and they were told quickly and firmly, "Feel free to forfeit your seat if you do not like it." This is something you will have to get used to in this program--constant changes and your feelings or schedules do not matter.

You will probably hear me or someone else say this many times and it isn't to be rude at all but get used to it. Everything is last minute, everything changes, we hurry and get things done and they take their time to do whatever they need to do. If you want to be in the program then you will deal with whatever they throw at you and do so without complaining or they will happily tell you, "There's the door." My class was told this very thing before we started and it rings true. It is an awesome program; the most highly respected in the city, but we are at their mercy. "Fair" is not in our vocabulary.

Okay so what's the deadline for spring? And how do I get a new packet?

What was the time frame given to you and your peers to complete the acceptance packet?

Here is the email that Ms James sent me that i was talking about:

Class and Clinical Schedules:

1. Class and clinical schedules will vary and students SHOULD NOT make work or other commitments until the semester begins and schedules have been finalized.

2. Class Instructors and clinical facilities are subject to change. Listing an instructor's name or a clinical facility in no way obligates the college to provide said instructor or facility.

3. Typically, Daytime classes are offered during the daytime (8 am-6 pm). However, it may be necessary to schedule classes during the evening, e.g. 6 pm - 9 pm.

4. Typically, Evening/Weekend classes are scheduled from 6 pm - 10 pm weeknights and clinicals from 7 am - 7 pm on weekends. But, it may be necessary to attend some scheduled activities such as course testing/special events and/or clinical site orientation during the day.

5. Orientation to clinical agencies is an agency requirement and may be scheduled daytime, nights, or weekends.

6. Clinical experience requires students to be prepared which necessitates going to the hospital on the day before clinicals to obtain the assignments (Applies to both Day and Evening/Weekend students). Clinical hours may vary due to holidays and students are expected to adjust their personal schedules accordingly.

7. Sections with a small number of registered students are subject to cancellation. Students so impacted will be reassigned to another section with the goal of achieving successful program objectives and meaningful student learning.

What was the time frame given to you and your peers to complete the acceptance packet?

I received my acceptance packet on March 8th and we had to have everything turned in by April 4th. March 8th was on a Saturday, so we had to wait until that Monday to even begin getting the ball rolling for immunizations and stuff, so...about three weeks.

What immunization do you need. I am going to start calling to find my records

Does everyone on here already have micro completed or are you enrolled in it for fall?

also, can you all post your scores based on the new packet? I just wanna see kind of where everyone is!

Im im sitting at 177.3 because i do not have micro and am taking it in the fall!

Everyone please read, I just got off the phone with Angie S at north campus and she said the new packet that was sent out needs to be trashed, as of this morning her supervisor had her pull the packet due to errors. She said she will have to re-email the updated packet once complete. I also asked her about the fall letters and she said we really won't be getting then until around the first week in August due to the nursing office being backed up with the new packetfor 2015/2016 . She also said the spring deadline is 8/1- Oct. So they start accepting them as soon as 8/1 but we have until OCT to get them submitted for spring 2015. She said she does know it will still be the HESI for spring but the rest if the criteria is now being worked on due to errors.

Thanks
