Frontier PMHNP admission, do I even have a chance?

So my GPA is a 2.9, I have to submit the reason. Well honestly I got straight A's until I got into the nursing program. Once I was in the program I started partying and thought as long as I had a C+ or better I was good. I have to submit up to 3 references testifying to my academic potential. I was in school over 15 years ago, so no instructors are there that knew me. Can one of the people be my sponsor? I've been sober for 10 years now. I want to be honest with why my GPA was low. If I can make it through nursing school drunk, I can do anything sober. Also as a psych nurse this has been an advantage being able to help patients with addiction issues. Any others have a GPA or 2.8 or 2.9 that got in? Am I overthinking it? Is there even a chance? Any other schools I should try with a 2.9? Thanks in advance for any input.

No one here can tell you if you will get in.  You just have to apply and see what happens.  I'd be careful about revealing your prior drinking problem.

You say you had straight As until starting nursing school, then you started drinking.  Why?  Was it because of the stress?  If so, have you developed good ways to cope with stress?

What have you been doing for the past 15 years?  Are you working as an RN?  Do you have good work references?  Do you have relevant experience for a PMHNP?

If you've been doing well at work and have good experience for a future PMHNP, then PMHNP programs will consider you.
