From Canada need advice!! Should I refresh? Is there a nursing career for me?

Published

I Am a former RN who took some years off to stay at home with my kids. Now I am thinking of returning to the work force. Having nursing back ground is great, but of course I would need to take a refresher after 11 years! I don't know what to do. I live in a smaller town where the area I formally enjoyed working in , postpartum and special care nursery are not available.

Advice please! Its a long story, but I am not a sick person nurse or a nursing home nurse. I would work at a woman's hospital if there was one here in this town. I don't know if it is worth it to take the refresher course or not. Does anyone know of RN jobs that don't involve direct patient care? Or

Alternatively careers that one could go into with a nursing background but aren't nursing?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read. Any thoughts or words are helpful.

You can try taking on a PSW instructor position for private career colleges. The pay isn't that great but it doesn't involve direct patient care unless you are supervising students in placements.

That is actually a really great suggestion! I'm sure the pay is better then what I am currently making, which is nothing lol. I don't know the first thing about that or what I would have to do to qualify, but I'm interested!
