I looked for this first and could not find it, so don't kill me if I'm beating a dead horse.

If I am Friends with someone, is that different than Following someone?

Does this show up differently on the App?

Does it matter at all?

I tend to run into the same crowd when I post- and would like to keep running in to them. There are Others I like as well. In order to see them, do I have to Friend them or Follow them? 'Cause I don't like to creepy post stalk them. I kind of want them just to *appear*.

So, you bookmark the post, not the person. I know on the app it has a "Participated Posts" click.

Stalking is such a strong word.

I prefer intense research of an individual.

Good question, Farawyn.

Yes, it is different. Contacts are just those who interest you for whatever reason and you want to be able to quickly read their posts. This does not require them to allow you permission to follow.

Friends, on the other hand, you actually have a relationship and follow. In other words, you send a Friend request or they send you a Friend request. You/they can either accept or reject the Request. When accepted, you share profile information and can follow each other. If parties reject the request, the member name(s) is/are added only as someone you are following; in other words, simply a Contact.

Click on your user ID name upper right of any page, then select DASHBOARD. In center of next page click, CONTACTS/FRIENDS.

You will then see the following explanation about, Add Members to Your Contacts / Friends List as explained above:

A Contact is someone you are following. To do this, enter the name below and click the Add button.

A Friend is someone you are following who gives you access to information only available to their Friends. A "friends" relationship will allow you to have access to information that your friend will give to their Friends only. To befriend a member, enter their name in the box below. Click the Send Friend Request button. A friendship request will be sent to the member. At which point, they can Accept or Reject your friendship. Until then, they are added as a Contact (someone you are following).

You can make changes to your privacy settings, too, to select a minimum relationship that readers must meet to see your profile information.

Again, click your name upper right hand corner of any page , then click SETTINGS.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to PRIVACY SETTINGS and then make changes for: Contact Info, Profile Picture, About Me, Friends, and Contact Me. Then, Save All Settings.

NOTE: Mobile apps may have different instructions.

Thanks for the information. I can POST here -- managed that just fine, but the Contacts, Friends and Following questions swooshed right over my head!

So you can follow someone without their knowledge? That's genius.
