Dianah glad you have begun the project again

Stars I hope you managed to banish the aches

Ado hope the injection helps,  glad the stepson is making improvements

NJ22 that's nice that you're taking him out for pizza

Work was crazy,  1 person off all week, another was off for a few hours in the afternoon, and I got 2 new cases.  Seems everyone on the team got new cases.  Cut lunch short and worked like crazy.  Things calmed down at the very end

After work called J to see how his trip had been and discuss plans for my  upcoming birthday,  had to leave a message.  Which really got my anxiety going, that little voice that says "really,  he wants to dump you".   But I talked with people, via computer and phone, and calmed down.  As my dad said "Don't get over your skis" I'll wait, if I don't hear from him by tomorrow I'll text, as my birthday is coming  up Monday

Sleep was mostly good, got up earlier than usual, think I managed to fall back to sleep, had  weird dreams

Today have the day off. Nothing scheduled.  Will probably go bird watching a bit later, although it's only in the mid 20s and we had a few inches of snow.  If it's too cold I'll head back home.  Planning to watch the animated version of The Hobbit, saw a YouTube video about it recently and was struck by how detailed the animation was.  Haven't seen in it quite a number of years.

I lead such a scheduled life, it's nice to get up and take my time and have no firm plans or deadlines

Will get up to about 30 today, no more snow expected until  tomorrow

Hope you've enjoyed your day off, Joe.

I'm still feeling really behind at work and I have the next week off. But I'm trying not to stress too much. Tonight is our book club's "Friendsgiving" dinner. I made a sweet potato casserole last night that I can take to reheat. It's cold out, only 34 degrees, which makes me want to just stay home and be warm. But I know I'll enjoy visiting (and eating!). And I won't be able to make it to the Christmas get-together (a cookie exchange) so I should go tonight.

A PRN nurse picked up tomorrow's shift so I am off the hook for working on the med/surg floor. So I'll be baking instead. I want to make a pumpkin cream cheese roll. And probably a pie or two. Was thinking of using some of the apple cinnamon whiskey that Hubs gave me for my birthday in an apple pie.

Happy Friday, all!

Happy day off, Joe. I hope you saw some cool birds, and that you didn't get too cool watching them! I sort of like a schedule but not too rigid, and I know I'm more productive. Every once in while, I get a wild idea and do something a little unusual.

Annie, that is nice someone else picked up your shift. Your baking plans sound nice and spicy. I bet your kitchen is going to smell sooooo good. Is your foot feeling better?

I finally got my atrial fib ablation scheduled, way out in March! Oh well, there goes my hope that it would be this year now that my out of pocket was exhausted. Oh well. It could be sooner if there is a cancellation. But now I can get a tattoo soon. Doc didn't want me to miss any anticoagulant doses for 2 months prior to procedure, but now I will be able to hold for 48 hours prior to getting inked. And in the rare instance that I need a filling after my December dentist appointment, I can take care of that too.I have to hold for 2 days for that too, otherwise it is a bloody mess. I did a short bike ride this afternoon, but my face is frozen. But it was sunny and I got a good dose of Vitamin D.

I am thinking about making some cookies.    I'll have to see what ingredients we have.

Hi Tweety, NoStars and Dianah!

Joe, I hope he's texted or called back, but if he doesn't don't text him or call him.  He's just not that into you.  Move on.

J22, that is a long time to wait for a procedure.   Good luck.

Had a decent ratio the last two days.  Off for a bit.

Tweety, enjoy your time off!

Ado, that pumpkin cream cheese roll sounds GOOD!!  Plus all your other baking plans sound delicious!

nursej22, good the ablation is finally scheduled, though it IS "far out!"  At least you can plan!  And, perhaps it will get moved up!

Stars, how was today?

I didn't sleep well last night, couldn't fall asleep till after 3.  Oh well.  I got some errands done today: small grocery list done, mailed some stuff out, bought taco salads for lunch (dh loves them).  Just returned from a trip to S's house (my walking partner), to deliver an electric juicer.  She has severe arthritis in her hands, though she works with them as much as she can.  She cooks and bakes a lot, especially when she has family out to visit.  She likes making a lot of dishes with lemon and orange in them, but her juicer was old: she got it as a wedding gift!  It does still work, but requires hand pressure.  I looked into what was available and ordered a nice, smaller(not 3-gallon capacity!), electric one.  She was surprised, yes!  She washed the pieces and tried it out.  It was quiet, worked well, was SO easy on her hands!  It was everything I had hoped it would be!  So, an early Christmas!  Her family is coming out for the weekend, for her dad's birthday, so she may have lots of chances to use it (plus they have a few citrus trees in the yard, AND a pomegranate tree [yes it works to juice those too, we tried it!]).  So that was fun.

I am being bad and preparing crock pot macaroni and cheese.  Carbs and fat be damnned!!  Or rather, the crock pot is preparing it for us!

Have a good evening!

Oh what a crappy day. I went to the pharmacy, and as I was leaving, I spoke with hubby on the phone. Slurred, hesitant speech from his end. Asked him how he was feeling...."Not too good. I fell again." ... "Are you hurt?" ...."Yeah, pretty bad: my right forehead and below my right eye, and a skin tear on my right elbow and the back of my right hand," He was supposed to stay where he was, in the passenger seat of the Ford (man-cave), but of course, he did not.

When I got home, I unloaded the bags of stuff (I also bought jumbo-super-large packages of ALL of Nannie's absorbent products) and put things away before I even went down to the den to see how he was.

Guess what $400+ brand-new eyeglasses he just totally ruined? He had a very twisted frame, one half-hanging-on earpiece, and severely scratched lens. Then he decided he needed to come upstairs to the kitchen and I had to steady him from falling upstairs 5X. Got his boo-boo's taken care of. He could've used a stitch under his right eye, but he would not go to teh ER, doc's office or Urgent Care Center.

Maybe I should learn to sew.

Anyway, he just will NOT settle down. When I ran out to get supper, he decided that as drunk as he was, it whouldn't stop him from bringing in the empty trash bin from the street. Aaaaand, of course he fell AGAIN. Once again the young guy across the street and helped him up. He said, "Man, you've got to auit drinking!" Later, his step-grandfather came over and read hubby the riot act about how he was cheating both me and his mother of helping with care, etc. And of course, hubby said, "Yes, you're right. I've got to do something."

I told him that Monday morning I was going to the doctor'rs office to arrange an ASAP appt to gte the Dr to put him in rehab. The Medicare booklet says the doctor has to order an admission into rehab somewhere.(approved, specified by Medicare)

Later after supper he went outside....a few minutes I checked to see if he was on the porch, but he wasn't. I walked to the other end of the porch to look over under the carport and there he was leaning into the Ford. I said QUITE LOUDLY, "Are you getting more to drink so you can fall again?" Of course he said no, but by then I had already turned around and started back inside, so I didn't hear the rest what he'd said. but I guess he was pretty mad at me for a while for saying that, but he never brought it up again.

Him being mad at me was pretty ridiculous. As he sobered up he didn't seem to remember how insulting I was to him (!)  smh. This seems to happen on the w/e's when the doc's not in his office.I don't think the doc works in the office on Monday, but I am going in to leave him a note, and see if I can get hubby on the cancellation list. I told hubby I couldn't stand another three weeks of this.

He has GOT TO go into a rehab before he breaks his neck or I break it for him.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Stars, I hope the doctor can get him into an inpatient rehab soon since he failed the librium taper plan (no big surprise) and that your husband goes.  All the yelling, humiliation, falling, etc. won't help.  But there's no such thing as a hopeless case.

Ado, hope you enjoy the book club!  What a nice social activity for you.

Dianah, how sweet of you to gift a juicer.
