Hey all,
What is this control this CPNE thing has over my mind? I'm glad to have Rob's DVD and the EC DVD to reassure me that even in my rusty nursing experience, I can do this with practice and precise memorizing of my critical elements. However, yesterday I had the meanest headache worrying about whether anyone would hire me after I finished the CPNE and EC. I also worried about whether I could pass the CPNE seeing as I've been out of practice for 4-1/2 years (except my volunteering at the local free clinic). I have solid medical knowledge and have been gainfully employed in the medical field since my departure from nursing, but still...I need reassurance from people who have been there! My husband provides reassurance, and he's also my mentor of sorts (he's an RN--a former care plan writing RN, no less), but still--he's never something as insane as this CPNE. I don't even have a CPNE date yet--my app was accepted May 19th. I'm already a basket case.
It's a call for reassurance, I guess. Reassure me, please!

It's a long wait, incredibly expensive, and a little boo-boo can cost you dearly, your next level of licensure rides on it....
No pressure.

LOL! I know--it's beating my butt up just thinking about forgetting to check an ID for the 45th time in a half hour will result in my failure. That and there is such an unknown factor to the whole thing. At least there is this internet thing to at least bring me to people going through this insanity as well.

i know several ec grads that have graduated and done great things. the reality is however many employers want to see something on the resume to make up for what they feel that ec doesn't provide (that is a topic for a whole other debate). you will have some time before your cpne, there is usually a 3-4 month window (or more). use that time to beef up your resume. get some aha instructor certs, employers love that.
of course i have also seen situations where the employer didn't care at all. just as long as you had your license and it said "rn" on it. go figure.

my CPNE app got accepted almost the same time as yours and I have noticed if I read certain discussion boards I get a little freaked out too. Possibly too much reading could be a bad thing. You know how to take care of patients, with all knowledge and caring that is needed that makes you a good nurse and person. The real only issue, I see is worrying about getting nervous and forgeting some crucial element, no matter how small and failing. So we become a nervous mess worrying about getting nervous. If you look at the big picture and simply think to yourself how silly it is, you will begin to laugh to and the CE will probably look at you sideways and slowly move away:chuckle It's going to be ok, come down off the roof and we can do it together
Hey it's hot in phoenix, where did you apply to go? I applied to the Wisconsin sites because I can drive there in a reasonable amount of time. Flying would make my anxiety even higher. Good thing I have some Ativan.
Phoenix, my nerves did me right in.
i applied for the ones in new york and pa. I have to fly anyway and i was told it's quicker to get a date at those sites. Thank goodness the workshop is here in phoenix in 3 months:yeah:

I know all about nerves getting to you. They almost got to me too during the CPNE. I started thinking about the and all the hard work and time. I was never in doubt about my nursing skills or abilities. Think about this though, you made it this far. You know what you are doing. You are a great independent thinker and resourceful. You have to have something going for you to make it through EC. So, if you feel like you're:banghead: and the stress is getting to you, do something to destress and relax for a day or two.:redpinkhe Give yourself a break and take care of you:saint:. I wish I'd taken a day or two just for relaxation. It probably would have done wonders for my mental stress. Good Luck!

My application was accepted in April at MPAC and I transferred it to NPAC b/c of the sooner dates. I called yesterday and got a date for August 1st-3rd at St. Lukes in Utica. They had lots of dates/sites to choose from. I go to a workshop in mid July so it works perfectly for me!
