Fresno City College LVN-RN Summer 2020

Hello-

I think that is will be very helpful during our stressful year coming up during the VN-RN program. I am feeling stressed with a little anxiety along with it. ??

does anyone known when the program is actually starting??

I am not sure if anyone checks this site on a regular... I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone that is starting the program next month has heard of anything regarding the program?? is it starting next month, are we on hold due to Covid?? Every time I call or try to get ahold of someone at the school I can never get in contact with anyone..

Hopefully you got the email from Kathy Braze, stating we will be starting on time just our lecture was moved to online and skills will be the same starting on June 1st.

I was reviewing the packet they gave us at orientation and saw the price of the book bundle they wanted us to purchase. Have you heard from any prior students if these are worth purchasing? I would rather not spend 400-600 on recommended books if I don't have to. I will purchase the books for core classes but I feel like these are a little overpriced and probably not all necessary for success.

I do know a number of people that have taken this program.. and they all had mixed reviews regarding if the books are worth it.. some have purchased the package and said it was completely worth it, where others have said not to and to just rent the books.. so no help there..

I would like to know exactly what is in the "red medical bag" that we have to buy.. I have one from a friend that just graduated and it still has items in it and I would love to use that one instead of buying a new one. So if anyone has already bought one and would like to share the what it encloses.. I would be thankful..

I'm going to buy the skills bag (even though I think its a rip) to be compliant. So I will report back when I do. I'm sure its just a practice foley Cath, a crappy stethoscope, all the basics for us to practice skills with. Also, I'm not purchasing next semesters clinical uniform yet either. I remember in orientation Kathy saying they may be changing it so I'm holding off on that and just going to purchase the skills shirt.

I would be thankful if you could let me know regarding the skills bag.. I agree I think its a complete rip, so if I don't need to buy it that would be great... the bag that I have still has lots of stuff in it.. I am planning on going up to Fresno next week to buy whatever it is that we need to have at this time..regarding the clinical uniform.. I actually have a uniform top-which won't fit me.. which size do you wear??

Oh yay! I wear a small/xsmall if that happens to be the size of your extra uniform top. Okay I went there today and they are out of the skills bags apparently and probably won’t have them until Wednesday or Thursday. So I’m going to call before I make that drive again. I just bought the red nursing shirt, I’ll wear my own black scrub pants and buy some white leather sneakers on amazon. ?

I literally just left there.. got the top for skills.. and I feel robbed cause I got the books.. ?‍♀️ I do have s small - uniform top.. it’s all yours..

I have the info on the books that are in the "Bundle" if you would like the info so you can save some money for yourself please let me know. I would be glad to send you the IBSN on the 4 books..

after I got the "Bundle" I looked on line at amazon for the books and - it was 200 cheaper.

Yes please! My number is 209-485-4385. I checked in on Wednesday and still no skills bag. Have you tried to login to the class on canvas yet?

I will send u photos ASAP .. I have attempted to login in with no success.. I have to go to Fresno tomorrow so I was going to check to see if the bags are in.. I was going to try to “fill” the one that I have but I guess that won’t work since we have to have them Monday..
