Yes and no, if you can get a job as a PCT without the certification it’s the same experience without the need to pay for a certification. But a lot of times they want you to have completed your fundamentals of nursing class, at least here, they do, but they may be so desperate that if you say you are going into nursing school and write a compelling cover letter and interview well they may take you and train you on the job.

It helps you with some schools out there too because I know CoS and some others will give you more points if you work in the medical field. Personally for me I know my physical limitations and know I want to work in the OR (fingers crossed I have a perioperative internship lined up for when I graduate), so it doesn’t give much benefit to me but put a lot of stress on my body. I have an interview for a PCT job and Starbucks, honestly considering Starbucks unless I can find a PCT job in the ER, a clinic or something in the OR/PACU. At the same time it will be good experience for clinicals and stuff because my clinicals I was robbed of a good experience. Going to wait until I have offers on the table to really make a decision.

Thanks. Yes, I was looking into doing CNA for schools like COS. Also, for the clinical experiences. Good luck in your decisions. I'm sure you will choose one that will work out for you.

Just curious on feedback of the program you’ve heard directly from previous FCC nursing students? You can PM me if needed. I’ve heard lots of cons, hoping there’s some pros out there ?

Really? I feel like I’ve only heard good things? Please message me what you’ve heard from peoples experience. TIA

I’ve also only heard good things. I know a few people who are in the program/graduated.

I will say, likely some cons will be possibly disorganizations/changing dates, the professors will likely just read PowerPoints and require you to read the book, but that’s all programs and it’s not specific to FCC.

I would refer to the handbook, but one area you can work on is gathering all your documentation on your immunization history (chickenpox, Tdap, MMR, Flu, COVID 2dose + booster, Hep B). If you've lost your documentation then you can get titers showing you still have immunity. If you have not received your Hep B series, that would be one to start ASAP as it is a 3 dose series and takes 6 months. If you had chickenpox and did not get the vaccine, you will have to have a titer done to show you have immunity. Lastly you will need a 2 step ppd test or quantiferon done but these usually need to be done within a certain timeframe before you clinical. You should get more information about that when you get closer to the start of your program. Having all this sorted out before your program starts will be helpful as you will need to upload all of this and have it verified before starting your clinical rotations.

I think most don’t start to make one until they know who’s in their cohort which is typically 20-25 people? I believe. But I’m down to join if ya make one. I mean we can all go about helping each other still!
