Warm Handoffs for Opioid Overdose Survivors: From Policy to Practice

The state of Pennsylvania has mandated that counties develop a pathway for warm handoff from the emergency department to substance use disorder treatment. Learn about the process, successes, concerns, and overall outcomes of warm handoffs as seen in Pennsylvania’s collaborative approach to tackle substance/opioid misuse.

The goal of this presentation is to discuss warm handoffs as an intervention strategy for substance/opioid misuse.

Upon completion of this webinar, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize the need for a more active and specific approach in addressing the substance/opioid misuse predicament.
  2. Describe the intervention of a warm handoff.
  3. Give an example of a warm handoff aproach in the the state of Pennsylvania.
