Dear MHNP,
I'm a seasoned acute care psychiatric RN who has worked as a supervisor, covered psych ER, and done some outpatient and residential work with all ages. I'm comfortable with multidisciplinary teams, diverse patient populations, and tight budgets. I've had to wait several years for the opportunity to become an NP, and I'm excited to be starting clinicals in January 2015, having completed all of the Advanced Health Assessment, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, etc. courses., plus lots of study on my own.
I plan to make myself but pleasant to be around and useful enough to minimize any time you might fear losing from your work day to aid my education. I'm a perceptive learner with a good sense of humor, who is known for being resourceful, showing initiative, taking a genuine interest in my work, my patients and coworkers, and going the extra mile. I'm willing to work the hours that suit you, including weekends, holidays and snowstorms!
If you have room for a mentee anytime from January 2015 to May 2016 and possibly beyond, please consider me! I would need to submit your information to the school legal department by November 1 for January, if possible. I believe the school pays a fee, but I don't know how much.
I will say this: Even with a fee, I know it is a sacrifice, and I would promise to mentor someone you send my way when I am experienced. If you can't help, would you be so kind as to point others this way? We have so many schools of nursing and graduate nursing in the area, spots are hard to find. I'd be glad to point you to my LinkedIn profile, send a resume, and of course answer any questions you may have.
Thank You,
Future NP in St. Louis
