foreign grad without liscense in country Graduated frm wants to work in Illinois

Published

I'm a foreign graduate and don't have a license in country I graduated from, but I'm already working as a RN for 2 years, I wanted to have a license in state of Illinois. Do I really need to take a local board exam in the Philippines to be able to endorse my license to Illinois.?

This is something you will have to ask the BON

Thank you for the reply :) called the BON last week and all they say is I have to have a liscense in the country where I graduated from. But I don't understand them coz I have a lot of nurses friends and relative that don't even have a liscense frm the country they graduated frm but working as a nurse in Illinois. I even ask this to the BON and the person that I talked to just gave me a name and number of a attorney to Call. I don't get it! Friends just tell me that in order for the Illinois BON to accept my application without taking local board frm country I graduated frm is to have at least working as a nurse in other state.

Things changed and it may have been something that was accepted but not any more

Plus if you have spoken to the BON and that is what they have said then I see no way round it
