I am a recent Jamaican BNS graduate unfortunately i didn't obtain a RN license in Jamaica after graduation i left the country.I would appreciate information of how i cant obtain a NY RN license without the license from Jamaica.
I heard about being a CNA for a year and then do a RN revision course and do the nclex examination after the completion of the course. Is there any true to this info.

Moved to nurse registration forum in World Nursing. You need to follow the instructions on the NYBoN website for internationally educated nurses. One step BEFORE applying to the board of nursing is to secure a CVS report for CGFNS (CGFNS International â€" Global Credibility in Credentials Evaluation) which takes at least 6 months.

Even if you do a CNA job may make no difference and the state may still require you to have a license in the country where you trained. You could submit a letter with explanation and that may be enough for the state

You don't need to have local license to take the NCLEX RN in NY. But you have to get the CVS service from CGFNS and have your education verified and then NY BON will decide if you are qualified to take the NCLEX. (:
