Hi everyone, i am new here. :)I am from Philippines and just got here in Texas for a month. I am a foreign graduate with bachelors degree in nursing, i took it for 4 years. I already sent an application for NCLEX via mail and still waiting for a reply from them. I am anxious on taking the exam:confused: , specially because i am a foreign graduate. Can anyone help me alleviate my anxiety?
Any tips for a foreign graduate?
Please Help.
Thank You. God Bless us all.:)

There is no application for the NCLEX exam directly; so are you speaking of the application for licensure to the BON in Texas? Did you submit a credentials evaluation to them as they will not look at your application without that.
Much has been posted on the International Forum, would recommend that you check it out for more information as well.
Best of luck to you.

The time when I was still in Philippines, me and my husband (RedRanger):loveya:, also a member of this forum, have been preparing already the documents I need for taking NCLEX. I just hope we got it right. I applied for CGFNS international Full Education course-by-course Credential Evaluation Service and I received a mail from them May23, 2008, "applicant's copy" which states that my BSN Degree is comparable to a Bachelor of Science in nursing program in the United states. my husband called Texas Board of nursing and make sure that they have a copy of my CES too, and yes they have it on file. August 2008 i arrived here in texas and Sept.9, i mailed the Texas Board of Nursing an Application by NCLEX-RN Examination for Registered Nurse and now i am still waiting for there reply.
PS. RedRanger says "Hi."
Thank You
God Bless
Glad to see that you finally got over here, have been hearing so much about you for so long. Give a big hug to him for me. I know for a fact that everything was done correctly for you since I guided him on what to do.
You would be applying to Texas BON for RN licensure, you do not apply for the exam. They will give you permission to sit for the exam, once you have that, then just register with Pearson-Vue for the exam.

suzzane,
Is it ok that as soon as you sent a requirements to the BON , you have to register to pearson vue at the same time? Coz i sent this month my application to BON the i registered as well..still waiting. Thank you so much
I never advise that, you do not know how long that it will take to get approval before you can sit for the exam. Or if you will actually meet their requirements for licensure.
As a foreign-trained nurse, always best to make sure that you will be given permission to test. Pearson-Vue is only going to keep your account open for one year, and then you lose the money if you have not tested in that time.
Depending on the state as well as how soon that your nursing school submits the required information to the BON, and it can be 6 to 8 months at the minimum to get approval. Some are as quick as four months or so on average but for any reason things can be held up.
Registering in advance with Pearson-Vue does not permit you to do anything, they will not permit you to even look at available dates until they have received approval from the BON as well to release things to you.
