I have a question for those nurses who wear whites. I really do like the idea of white for nurses because of the traditional look and the fact that you are easily identified as the nurse. I am thinking of investing in a set or two, but I am not sure I can cope with white head to toe. Does anyone wear just white pants with patterned tops, or else white tops with solid colored pants? If so, do you still get the traditional I-am-the-nurse thing like you would with all whites?
My other dilemna is that I am a school nurse and the cafeteria workers at my school often wear solid white. Right now I wear colored pants and patterned tops, some cartoons, and I am the only one in the school who dresses this way so I think I stand out as the nurse. But, I might have to end up changing my user name over this!

One popular combination I've seen is white pants with navy tops. It does look nice I think if you can stand white pants.
I've also seen white pants, a colored t-shirt and if it's chilly, a white scrub jacket.
I don't see colored pants with white tops that often. I'm not sure why.
I like the look of whites. I like the theory of whites. But when I worked ED, I couldn't imagine it. Some did pull it off though. Now I work at a desk so it's street clothes. I do miss the ease of scrubs some days, though.

Now a days you can pretty much wear any color combination unless you are a student nurse then that is what ever the school designates. Some facilites designate each department wear a specific color but truly that is few and far in between. Good Luck.
