For Life Span 1,2 & 3, will I get by with Phipps Med Surg?

Is anyone using/used the Phipps Medical Surgical book vs the new Smeltzer book the EC content guide recommends? I see I will have fun trying to find corresponding readings, but I am going to be quite disappointed if I have to buy yet another book. Although I really don't care for the style of Phipps, I really need to conserve costs here.

I got an edition previous to the one that's 'recommended" by EC of the new med surg book, it's WAY better than Phipps in my opinion! i got mine for $25...try ebay and look for an earlier editon, i think i got the 11th and it matches up perfectly with the content guide! Either that or dig through phipps for all your stuff but you may miss some things =(

Barnes Noble has some used copies of the 11th edition of Smeltzer listed for $8.08 as well as others for between 20 and 30 bucks.

I am using Phipps..I was not buying another med/surg book for only 2 tests...Joanne(nursing instructor) said it was ok to use Phipps. I passed LS2 using it and now onto LS3 (my last nursing exam)

The Phipps book used to be the recommended book for these tests for a long time. You will do fine.
