Hi All,
If pt is going home on PCN-G IV q4hrs. Is there a pump you can set him up on of is it to gravity. Pt has PICC. Thanks for your input.

The pt could have a difficult time maintaining a g4hr schedule. We use an ambulatory pump in this situation. It will be set to administer the dose every 4 hours and a kvo rate is set in between (usually.1 to .2 ml ). The pt is hooked up continousely and the IV bag and pump are placed in a fanny pack or back pack, The pt caregiver or nurse changes the bag and batteries at the needed intervals, there are some wonderful ambulatory pumps out there for all types of therapies
