Hello. I will be starting the FNP program at Walden University in August 2015 and would like to interact and correspond with past and present students. If anyone has any advise or questions please feel free to post here.
I am a little worried about my financial aid. My adviser said I won't be able to find out how much I qualify for until June 2015. Not knowing what my out of pocket expenses will be makes it difficult to plan. Thanks!

Hey, congrats on your acceptance! How long did it take for them to let you know you got in? I recently applied & was curious. Thanks!

Normaly your fin aid is a loan that has to be payed back and they usual give enough to cover what's needed.

I may apply to this school.
Are you a Walden student? I'm interested in the experience at Walden. Do you find the program to be difficult or mainly a lot of writing papers? On average how many papers would you say you write a week? Are there a lot of tests/quizzes?

Hi, I am in the FNP program at Walden. I just finished my first specialty class of adv pathophysiology and will begin adv pharm in June. At the beginning of the program I took 2 courses at a time. With the specialty, there's a load of info the student is responsible for in a short period of time so I choose to take each course by itself until I am ready to begin the practicum. You will have a discussion question that you are required to answer and provide at least 2-3 responses to your classmates, you will have a minimum of 4 papers (usually due the even weeks of class). Once you begin the specialty coursework in addition to what is required in the core courses there will be a final assignment in week 10 (that is more comprehensive) and a quiz each week. The minimum requirements for a B or better will be increased. I will tell you that there is a lot of reading. You must stay motivated to complete what is required by each instructor. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask.

Hi.. I recently applied to Walden RN-MSN FNP for Feb 16... I have to write a goal statement to be submitted to the admissions committee. Just wondering if anyone else had done this and been accepted.
Really? I didn't have 2 write a goal statement. Must be something new. But i would look at the school of nursing mission and make your goal statement based off of that. But I started at Walden on June 1st

I am thinking of applying to Walden University for FNP Program. How is the program so far? Almost everyone is having trouble finding preceptor/clinical sites. I was informed that before I apply, I need to give them a list of clinical sites that I may possibly be looking at for clinical for peds, OB-GYN, adult and gero. How did you all get your clinical sites and preceptor? I recently moved to Arizona, so I have no networks here. Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA.
Networking definitely helps but check and see if your state has an advanced practice organization. Things like that usually have preceptors on the site. Also go to different clinicsand just talk to them. But for application all I did was pick 3 clinics and write them down. Literally just googled clinics with nps and wrote them down. So far the program has been pretty straight forward. Nothing to extensive. Essays and discussion posts.
