FNP online options

Well the time has come for me to seek out opinions and experiences from other nurses on FNP programs. I am a military spouse so I am looking into online programs as we could be moving soon. Currently my top choices are University of Arizona, Colorado Mesa University, Chamberlain University, and Maryville University. My concerns are cost, time commitment, accessibility to advisors, and overall program. With that said, I am looking for any information/ advise on the above programs. So, if you would please the good, the bad, and the ugly…. Thanks in advance!

My only comment is that while online programs are probably a best alternative due to traveling around, the main problem will be obtaining sites for your clinicals unless the school can provide. It is often difficult, as professed in other posts, for many students who have to find their own clinical sites where they live and work...couple that now with moving to a new area where you have no contacts could prove extremely difficult. I would really look at programs that offer placement. If not, you may have to sit out a semester until you can find a site.

I really enjoy going to school online. The only advice I can give is to make sure the school you attend will grant you certification in the state you are in. Several online schools only allow certain state residents to enroll. I know in 2012, Texas residents could not enroll at Walden University. I know now that has since been resolved. Check the state board of nursing and the school before you enroll. I highly recommend South University online.
