Flushing a butterfly: With normal saline or water for injection?

Published

I have a question for everyone..

A butterfly is insitu on a patient's abdomen. After administering 0.25mls of morphine (4mg), it's quite obvious there are morphine solution left in the tube. So question, do you flush with water for injection or do you flush with sodium chloride? and if so, how much would you flush it done with?

All responses appreciated.

Cheers

no it is considered primed... you would only use morphine. no need to flush.
