Flu Vaccine for home care patients

Published

What are the views on taking drawn up flu vac from physician's office to patients' homes?

Taking care of two disabled family members, I think they have the only physician in the area that does home visits therefore they get their flu shot at home. Previously before we had him, I requested through the home health agency to be allowed to give it to them at home. IMO it is much safer then exposing them to other germs waiting in line or at the doctor's office. It would be wonderful even if a physician didn't have home visitation, if they would allow their nurses to do this.

Thanks, Straydandelion. I do have a problem taking previously drawn up syringes to the homes. I don't mind giving the vaccine as I believe it is extremely important for the comprised patients to receive it; however, I would prefer to draw the vaccine out of the vial myself.

Ahhh, I didn't understand, yes I thoroughly agree, I wouldn't give anything that I didn't draw up myself unless it came directly from the pharmacist in a syringe.
