I know this is way far in advance but I am taking my perquisites online in hopes to apply for the FSW nursing program sometime in 2022. I spoke to my advisor and he told me that they are changing the point system for admission to program in the Spring. Does anyone have anymore info about this? I just don't want to miss anything.

The morning part is lecture and the afternoon is "lab" which is to learn and practice nursing skillls then having them test. For example today we got checked off on how to correctly pass oral medications. (right pt, right time, right route, right reason, right dose, and triple checking its the correct med)
Tuesday is just zoom lecture for pharm 1-3pm
Wednesday is a full day again for Health assessment with zoom lecture 8:30-11 and afternoon "lab" 12-2:30pm. you learn how to do vitals, respiratory assessment, cardiac assessment abdominal assessment, then a full head-to-toe assessment
And starting this Friday are our clinicals 6:30-3pm
I highly recommend watching Registered Nurse Sara RN on Youtube she gives great instructional videos on how to do them all
this was super helpful! it looks like they split up the material pretty evenly throughout the week. that's awesome!! I hope clinicals go very well for you!
Im sure you will get in! I also had all the pre-reqs done so that helps a lot.
Honestly I was so nervous but the interviews were super laid back.
This Summer I recommend brushing up on medical terminology and common medicine lingo like PO, PRN, QID, etc.

theres some great instructional videos here that even our teacher plays for us

They do a pretty good job of covering the same topics in all the classes like in pharm we learn about common cardiac drugs while in Health Assessment we learn how to do a cardiac assessment and all the signs/symptoms to look for
and thank you! Im at shellpoint this semester which will be easy im sure. I already have experience working in a hospital so I would have preferred that but they switch us around each semester

yeah the interviews are what I’m most nervous about and the math since it’s my weakest subject. although everyone I talked to said they did fine. I’m glad the interviews are just character analysis. I definitely will brush up on those terms. I wanna be as prepared for my semester as I can! thank you so much, I wish you continuous success in the program!
Honestly the math is stupid easy. I think there were 25 questions and they got progressively harder but the first few questions were very basin addition and subtraction, then basic multiplication and division, then decimals and fractions
and like two questions were med based
for example "you have an order to give 5mg of a med and only have pills that are 2.5mg each, how many pills would you give?"
Let me know if you have any other questions, I know I had a million and was so anxious/excited about the program
And honestly they really want you to succeed theres a lot of info to take in but the online application through lippincott has practice quizzes and other material to help you study

All awesome information Jacqueline! I agree with everything you have said. And also so anyone else sees this I just wanted to say that all campuses are different with schedules. Our schedule in Collier is Monday Fundamentals lecture 12-3, Tuesday Pharm 1-3, Wed health assessment lecture 8:30-11:10, then Thursday we have both labs(one from 8:30-11:10 and one from 12-3:50), and we start clinicals on Friday as well from 6:30-4. We are getting split between two hospitals(NCH and physicians) School is going great, you just gotta stay on top of your material and Youtube helps a lot. For health assessment and fundamentals make sure to study with PrepUs a lot, and level up RN for pharm is amazing. And for the math test I just used mathantics on Youtube and practiced the divisions, percentages, and fractions. It was super easy math.
And I agree with making sure to have your prerequisites all done prior because I am taking anatomy this semester and it definitely adds to the pressure. I am now taking micro in the Summer time because I don't want to have to do nursing and extra classes next semester.
Good luck to everyone and always feel free to ask questions ?

you both are gods sent! I appreciate the information and tips more than you know. thank you so much for the information on collier days because it’s actually my second choice! just like jacqueline said they really do set up you up for success as long as you do the work! I will be reaching out to you both when I get accepted! I’m glad I took all the nursing pre reqs, including Chemistry for the BSN so I can just focus on the nursing classes. I have no doubt that you both will do amazing in clinicals and be awesome nurses! thank you so much for the info ?

hey jacqueline! I have a quick q, how do you like your nursing instructors at the lee campus? I’m seeing pretty mixed reviews on rmp and I’m curious what your thoughts are!

hi! I had a question for you also, same as jacqueline, how do you like your nursing instructors at the collier campus? I’m seeing slightly better reviews on rmp for collier instructors vs lee instructors and I wanted to get your opinion since you’re currently being taught by them.
I think all the instructors are fine - good, not great - and I don't personally have a problem with them although some of my classmates may disagree. Just be prepared to do a lot of teaching yourself and reading the chapters thoroughly because our time in lecture is very short. Theres so much information covered in such a short time it's hard for the teachers to get through of it but they do make sure you know the most important info
Also just retake the PrepU quizzes to study for the exams because they use some of those same questions.
Honestly I love my professors and think they are all kind and good. Some people may not fully agree with that but I love them. You just gotta make sure you are kind and respectful to them and follow the rules. Also make sure to do some learning on the subjects before the day of the lecture. It helps while your in class

OMG thank you so much for the info! the app closes may 15th so I've been doing some light math to keep me occupied while waiting patiently. I already did all the pre-reqs and actually have my AA degree. I've got a 3.8 with the GPA calc so I'm confident I'll pass the first phase. thank you so much ? looking forward to becoming a fellow student!
