I'm 19 years old and after switching majors multiple times I have my AA degree in nursing. I have to options
I have a GPA above the requirements for each of my universities BSN in Nursing programs and I've done the facts.org AA Transfer Evaluation to see my standing. However in my switching majors phase I applied and got in the AS in Generic RN Nursing program at my college. I failed a class in process 1, came back, and failed a class in process 2. I can not reenter my college's nursing program because after failing 2 nursing classes you're out and can only reenter after obtaining an LPN license. I also retook some of my classes when doing my AA degree.
My questions:
Are students with prior nursing AS degree credit failures permitted?
I successfully passed three nursing classes - 7 credits total
I failed two nursing classes- 5 credits total. One of the classes 2 credits I retook and passed successfully.
I failed pharmacology twice.
Are colleges likely to look at the prerequisites reattempts?
I retook 2 science classes.
Anatomy & Physiology Lab only first attempt was an F second was a B
Microbiology without the lab only first attempt was a D second attempt was a B
I want to retake my Chemistry without the lab in which I got a C and my Microbiology Lab only in which I got a C.
My options:
1) LPN to RN
Apply to sheridan technical center or mcfatter technical center lpn programs (the next available ones in 2011).
In 2013 apply to my college's LPN to RN.
Then later do the RN to BSN
2) BSN
Apply to one of the following colleges and hope I get into the program with my previous failures and prerequisite reattempts.
I'd like to know all opinions I'm feeling burned out and really depressed about my situation.

Wow. That was confusing.
How can you have an AA in Nursing when you didn't complete the program?
Honestly, looking at your history and being a term 4 student now.....I recommend that you start with the LVN. I believe that you could succeed with that and start a nursing career. Experience and maturity may help with the rest.
I did not fail any of the pre-reqs for my RN program and I don't believe any of my classmates did either.....and many have struggled to pass the RN courses. For me, I gave up A's and became content with B's. (93 - 100 is an A in our school....and only for the nursing program!). A 79.99 is a failing grade. It takes an 80 to pass and the school won't round grade.
Don't give up on your dream. Sometimes small steps are better and you will reach your goal in the end. Heck, I am 48 and heading in a new direction - so you are never too old. You have a long life ahead of you and plenty of time.
Good Luck!

I have a hard time believing that with all those fails and retakes, that any BSN program is going to take you at this point. Most have a 2.5 GPA minimum requirement and most applicants/candidates come in much higher than that. 4-year BSN programs are somewhat competitive (as are all RN programs.)
If you failed two nursing courses and failed several sciences -- if this was for academic reasons -- I think you are going to need to think long and hard about whether or not you have what it takes to get through an RN program. It only gets harder after you graduate and actually have to apply what you learned without killing somebody. If you had extenuating circumstances that caused the bad grades, ok, but I still think with that many classes failed you are going to have a really hard time convincing any RN program to readmit you, even if it was another ADN program. And, perhaps, rightfully so. I hate to burst your bubble, but someone has to say it. I gotta tell you, if I sat on a nursing program selection committee at a college (which I don't), your application would probably go on the bottom of the stack, if not straight in the trash. There are just too many applicants (or rather, not enough instructors to go around, but in any case) these days to take people with substandard academic standing.
I think you could possibly shoot for the LPN. And, if your grades are good, perhaps later consider going on, but I do think that unless you perform academically absolutely fabulously, you might have a tough time moving past your former grades. Even LPN to ADN programs have admission academic standards, and if you already failed out of one, that is going to be looked at.

Don't be discouraged. Just retake the classes that you need and apply to nursing school. You never know what can happen. What else is there left for you to do at this point but keep trying. You have invested so much time. If you have to write a letter to the school for your acceptance, let them know that you have a strong desire to be a nurse. Yes having to repeat grades isn't the best thing but on the other hand it shows that you aren't going to give up. Nursing schools see this as well. Just try to meet the requirements to get yourself accepted. Far too many straight A, don't know what nursing is really about, push the I am an excellent student on such and such committee, end up graduating nursing school and end up not wanting to be a nurse when they see the reality of it. Don't let anyone tell you you can't make it as a nurse. The sheer fact that you want to improve yourself and repeat classes shows that you are not a quitter. Make sure that when you repeat the classes that you are understanding the material. This is very beneficial to you being successful in the nursing program. There may be a student that passes all of the preqs and support courses with all A's but still fails nursing school. Hang in there. You are young. You are just starting and yes you still do have options, just try not to fail any more classes. You must get more serious about this because nursing classes can not be failed so many times and some not at all. Good luck.

In some state you can get what they call an 'academic fresh start' where you can basically throw away your past college experience and start over. That may be the best path for you since you did so poorly up to this point.
At 19 I probably wouldn't have done that well with all these classes either. I struggle with them now at 38.. but I believe I can and will succeed. You can to, but you need to slow down and see if you can wipe that record clean. Good luck to you.

An AA degree is an Associates of arts degree and a AS Associates of science degree. AA is just the Core classes and sum to try to get into a nursing program ans AS you have took your entrance and Final exam to obtain your Nursing degree/
