U.S.A. Florida

I'm starting this new thread to chat with everyone that's planning on applying to usf fall 2016.. I'm supper excited I hope that I get in.. Anybody else plan to apply to usf fall2016 nursing upper division

Please no dispute. Peaceful.

So, does anyone else really wish the application period was a bit shorter so we could hear back from the college?

You know, I said I was going to look around the USF website to consider other career options if I didn't get in too. I don't know that it is about being unsure of what you want to do, but more wanting to have some kind of back-up. The idea of not having a back-up plan is scary, especially since all of the other programs (except it seems South) have already past their application periods.

Personally, I considered all the other options, and I could potentially do anything, and only came to the conclusion that nursing is perfect for me. There aren't other options that would make me as happy. Does the fact that I took a moment to consider other options change my passion? No. it means I grabbed a bit of reality. Just something to consider.

Hi all!

So by the end of this spring semester I will have all but one nursing pre-req fulfilled. I planned on taking my last pre-req (A&P II) during a Maymester at another school in order to complete all classes by the June 1st deadline. However, I was just informed that my transcripts will likely not be evaluated in time to apply. I am transferring to USF from another college so the transcript and credit evaluation process is lengthier than normal. Even though I will have completed all of my nursing pre-reqs prior to the June 1st deadline, since my transcripts won't be in on time I'm basically screwed, correct? No type of exception can be made in this scenario? I really don't want to wait until Fall 2017 to reapply... Any advice?

Hello all! Just submitted my application. Only waited this long because I totally thought it was going to be longer than it was and I needed a break from applications ;P

Anywho, as already stated, I'm actually really nervous and anxious about not getting accepted! This initially was my backup to UCF but unfortunately I just missed reaching a 78 on my TEA's and with their 30 day between attempt rules I couldn't retake it before the deadline. Damn test anxiety! I also applied to UF, but I know my chances of getting in there as a transfer are about slim to none, unfortunately.

My cum transfer GPA is a 3.79 with my PreReq GPA somewhere between a 3.83 if I calculated it correctly. I'm worried because I know they're both decent GPA's, but they're not the best since I know there are plenty of people applying with 3.9's and 4.0's. Also, I don't know if anyone knows how this will effect me, but I ended up withdrawing from my first A&P 1 class. I withdrew before I could get a grade and when I retook it two semesters later I got an A in both lecture and lab. Does anyone know if that withdraw is going to hurt me? I know on the website it says they look at first grade attempts, so does a W count as a grade? Or do they only look at the grade that goes towards the GPA? Ugh, I'm so worried!! If I don't get accepted, I honestly don't know what I'll do, but I suppose we'll get through it together!

You definitely have a great chance of getting an interview. My overall was 3.77 and my pre reqs were 3.81 and I got accepted for the summer! I also did the same thing where I withdrew from anatomy the first semester and retook it the next. That will not affect you at all. If you have any questions about the process let me know! :)

Hello, everyone! I don't post much but plan to apply to USF soon. HCC is my backup plan. I didn't see that the TEAS was required for USF.

@dogunrinde: Congratulations on getting accepted! That's awesome :) How long after the application deadline did it take for you to find out that they wanted you to come in for an interview? I assume they let you know through email? More importantly, how are you liking things so far?! Hopefully your first semester went great!

@gracimista: TEA's aren't required for USF but I believe they are for HCC.

The deadline was March 4th and I got the email for the interview March 14th. Classes start next Monday!! Got in for summer 16.

Hi! Congrats on getting in for summer. I'm sure you are super busy, but could you possibly give us a mini screenshot of what the schedule is like? I applied for Fall and I'm a nervous wreck.

We have class Monday through Thursday. Monday we have three classes which is first pathophisology, followed by pharmacology, and then fundamentals. On Monday/Wednesday its from 8:00-4:30. on Tuesday and Thursday we have a 4 hour lab and then we have a 4 hour lecture after. After the first 4 weeks we don't have classes or lab on Tuesday anymore because that is when we will start clinicals. And we have Fridays off. It might be different for the fall because you guys have more time. We started in the summer so it is very fast paced. hoped this helped. let me know if you have any other questions :)

Oh, thank you so much for the information. I have four kids to schedule around and have been completely fretting with no information at all.
