U.S.A. Florida

I'm starting this new thread to chat with everyone that's planning on applying to usf fall 2016.. I'm supper excited I hope that I get in.. Anybody else plan to apply to usf fall2016 nursing upper division

The pre-req GPA is the combined GPA of certain courses the FIRST time you took them, I think it may be these classes:

  • BSC X085C Human Anatomy & Physiology I OR any Human Anatomy & Physiology I course, 4 semester hours
  • BSC X086C Human Anatomy & Physiology II or any Human Anatomy & Physiology II course, 4 semester hours
  • CHM, BSC, PHY, PCB, BCH XXXX Any Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Biochemistry course, 3 semester hours
  • DEP X004 Human Growth & Development or any Human Growth & Development course, 3 semester hours
  • HUN X201 Human Nutrition or any Human Nutrition course OR NUR 1192, 3 semester hours
  • MCB X010C Microbiology or Any Microbiology course, 4 semester hours
  • STA X014 Statistics or any Statistics course, 3 semester hours

I have it written down in one of my notebooks, not sure where. It might just be the anatomy classes and microbiology. I'll look around for it and see if I can dig it up.

All does classes are part of your science GPA .. I just hope that's we all that are applying get accepted because I know for me this is my last option í ½í¸©

absolutely. I've been having anxiety problems lately cuz of this. Constantly worrying and crying about what I'll do if I don't get in. It's not the end of the world but I really don't have a back up plan. In all honesty, I'd rather get a denied interview letter than a denied to program letter if I get an interview too. I really am coming to terms that there's a high chance of not getting in cuz of my gpa looking so low compared to the 4.0 applicants. Wish they could see how dedicated and hard working I am instead of just a number before they decide if I'm a good fit for the program :(

I know exactly how you feeling I'm super nervous also and very worry and this waiting has been keep me up at night

so if you're in the middle of finishing a pre req (like micro) this semester, we can't start the application process, right? I just don't wanna apply then be told that my classes don't have a final grade and have to reapply...

Yeah you can start the application process I long as you will have your grade before the application deadline close

Hey guys!!! I'm applying to the fall program this year. I'm also finishing my micro lecture/lab and some fkl classes to bump up my gpa. I currently have a 3.33 overall gpa but a 3.66 in the usf gpa system? Not sure what my pre req gpa is or how to calculate it to tell you guys. Just an average of the prereqs? Anyways, I don't have a back up. This is the most nerve wracking process of my life. All the other schools already had their deadlines and I don't want to leave the tampa area. I'm gonna see other career options if I don't get in. Any recommendations for alternative careers that will let my degree be worth something? lol. I'm an avid reader on this website, and will take any advice and communication with y'all. It will keep me sane - more than being in the journey alone.

Have you looked in to South University? Their fall program begins in October. The deadline hasn't passed yet.

I seen your was on the summer 2016 thread did you not get in ..

No, I got denied. I'm not sure if it was because I also applied to the VBSN program or not though.

If I really have no other options, I will probably apply there. I really would like to stay at USF, I transferred to USF the end of my freshman year and I don't want to go through the strenuous process again. I wanna say it's all or nothing, but I really have to talk to a career specialist soon.

Honestly the fact that you can say "I'm gonna see other career options if I don't get in" is a Red flag that you should go ahead and seek a career specialist NOW rather than later. . . I am sorry if you are not going into nursing because you are passionate about it. . but rather becuse you think getting into nursing school is simple with your credentials. . . do yourself a favor and all the sick people who will be in need of passionate nurses a favor and find another career. . . healthcare isn't a field in which one gets into just for a paycheck! But if I am mistaken and if you are passionate but concerned about not getting in due to your credentials. . than I apologize and if you are really passionate about it you shouldn't give up on achieving it. . there are other options such as the community college route and then doing an RN to BSN transition. If you are already giving up on the first step, the application process and getting in. . . once in the nursing program . . . you are going to be in for a rude awakening. . #thestruggleisreal. . Good luck to you!

Nice to know that I'm solely coming here for support and i get your rude response instead. No I'm not doing it "for a paycheck" and how dare you assume you know my intentions or who I am in whole. I assure you I'm more passionate than 3/4 of the applicants; I'm just being realistic because the nursing department will not see me for who I am and only a GPA until I get an interview. So good luck to you, I hope you realize going around discouraging others does you no good at all. Anyone else want to give any words of encouragement that I can actually consider helpful?
