University of Miami ABSN May 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Has anyone else applied for the May 2013 cohort? I applied this week and am awaiting my transcripts/letters of recommendation to be received.

When you did the application for nursing it was just the one for um transfer on the admission page right? As in there's no separate application form made specifically for the nursing program.

The application is the transfer common app- you just indicate that you're applying for the Accelerated Nursing option in the supplemental app for U of Miami.

Anyone from previous cohorts that can let us know when we might begin to start hearing back?

Hello, I submitted my application for the May 2013 start date on November 14 (not like I'm counting the days!), and have not heard back yet. Have either of you heard yet?

** EDIT: I just called and they said letters will go out the end of February/beginning of March... Let me know if either of you have heard differently! ... and Good Luck!

Did you call the school of nursing or admissions?

Hey, my name is Lauren and I am from Seattle. I just received my admissions to UM's absn May 2013 cohort (yay!). I'm super excited about the program, but a little nervous about the condensed time (12 months is on the shorter end of an accelerated program). Has anyone been able to speak with a graduate from this program about their experience both at UM and in the city of Miami? Any perspective would help!

Thanks,

Lauren

Congrats!

I'm still waiting to hear back.. Did you find out through mail or through myUM?

Thank you! I found out through myum. In the admissions section, it will say "view your admissions decision letter."

Do you mind sharing when you submitted your application and your stats (cum gpa, pre req gpa, former major)? I've been checking myUM religiously for the past couple of weeks and am getting anxious!

No Prob. I cruised these boards for months to try and figure that out. I had a 3.62 from University of Washington - Seattle and roughly a 3.9 science prereq gpa from a local CC. I double majored in Law, Societies, and Justice (similar to poly sci) and English. I have my CNA license, BLS/CPR, and about a hundred hours of community service related to hospital patient care. I also have 3 years of working with developmentally disabled children in public schools and private care. Hope this helps? What other schools have you applied to?

Thanks! When did you submit your application? Before the December 1st early admission deadline or after?

My stats are similar to yours (3.7 cumulative GPA, 4.0 prereq from a community college). I also applied to Oregon Health and Science and Loyola Chicago. I didn't have the prereq's completed by the October 1st deadline to apply to UW's ABSN program or I would have. What other schools did you apply to?
