To Transfer (for my BSN) or not to transfer... THAT is the question!

So... here we are... classes are starting in two weeks and I just cannot decide what to do.

I have been wanting to complete my BSN with UCF. The RN to BSN program has been a whole issue on its own but I was ultimately accepted. And then I was informed I was missing a science (I was later told that any 3 credit hour CHM prefix class would do) so I cannot begin the program until next semester. Now, my options are as follows:

1. Take the chem course this semester, suck it up and move on to upper level nursing classes in the spring.

2. Take the chem course at UCF, and take up to two upper level classes at my local school (SPC) and hope that UCF seems them adequate to transfer - which they won't decide until fall semester is already underway.

3. Say "screw it" and get my BSN locally because the are no additional hoops to jump through.

Everything is online. UCF is about $50-60 more per credit hour, but they are a four year college.

Thoughts? Does the school your degree comes from factor in greatly when it comes to finding work? Am I making this way harder than it needs to be? (Don't answer that, obviously I am lol)

Thanks, in advance!

No, it doesn't factor in much, at all. The exception would be schools with an extraordinarily good reputation, or an extraordinarily bad one.

I am from Florida and I work in Central Florida. Everyone only cared that I was enrolled in a BSN program or that I had a BSN. Now that I have a BSN nobody has asked me where it is from, only if I have it. I considered SPC and UCF but ultimately did the UTA RN to BSN program. I didn't have to take any extra science classes. Nursing was a second degree for me and I already had chemistry and biology courses but since they were past 7 years I was told I would have to retake them - uh, no. So that is how I ended up at UTA.

Thanks to both of you. UCF really dicked around with everything and weren't any better when I directly confronted the matter. So I've ended up going with SPC. So far, it seems like the best decision. And in, roughly, a year and a half I will have my BSN!
