Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else is on this website that is applying to the upcoming spring evening term for SSC and if so, what are your thoughts. Are you nervous? I am!

Hey cgriff08! This is my first post to the forums and I originally was going to be applying for the Spring 2012 program at Seminole State but have so many questions that I really don't know if I should or not. I am nervous but I also know for a fact that my prerequisites will not be done in time. I will be in progress at the time of application and am really thinking about cutting back so I dont have to take 5 or 6 classes in one semester, but then of course that would mean I couldn't apply for the Spring program... Ugh...so many decisions to make.

I remember at the Nursing Info Session the UCF advisor mentioned that you should really work on getting your AA at SSC first but that just seems confusing to me since SSC and UCF's pre-reqs are different. I mean, I understand having an AA will automatically guarantee you entrance into a University but doesn't necessarily mean entrance into the UCF's nursing program... I have kept track of the other applicants when they have applied and what they applied with (pre-reqs done, scores, etc) and haven't noticed any particular pattern. I guess it all depends on who applies when you apply.

Like I said....so many questions....lol but either way, good luck!!!

lostinfl, I have not gone to the nursing info session yet. Matter of fact, I will be going on the 25 of June so I have no idea what to expect. I had applied to UCF but I'm not sure I will get in because of how competitive it is. Plus, the fact that my pre-req were completed in and out of FL doesn't help. I'm in the process of moving back home (FL) and need to get something set up quick. I'm in the army now but will go from good income to no income at the snap of a finger. The one good thing I can couture on is the military paying my full tuition. Plan A is to get into UCF BSN program, Plan B is to get into SSC/UCF concurrent program. Plan C is to apply to SSC LPN program and TECO LPN program and hopefully be able to start nursing school in the spring. My biggest issue with his process is I am leaving being accepted into a BSN program here to move home and start all over. In regards to obtaining an AA degree from SSC, I am sure I would qualify but won't get it cause of the residency credits that I would need to take with the school. Question, does anyone know if the "Intro to health care" is a required course?

Hey guys!

I am attending the Information Session tonight at the Altamonte campus. I am applying for the General RN Evening Track for January 2012, not the Concurrent program. I know they only have a select number of seats for the General RN, but I am hoping and praying I get in. I have never wanted anything so badly in my life! I was originally going to go to Valencia, but their program has an insane waiting list, starting in Fall of 2013!

I was wondering, I am a transfer student from Valencia, so all my credits have been transferred to Seminole. Does Seminole calculate only your pre-requisite classes GPA, or do they calculate ALL of your college credits and use that to determine your GPA when applying?

Hopefully we can all keep in contact through this forum on our progress! Take care!

Hi guys. I am also applying for the spring term. I am in my last class now before getting my AA. I'll be done at the end of July. I have been going to SSC for almost 3 years now. YES I am extremely nervous. :uhoh3:

I've been checking periodically on the website to see if they have updated their admission area. I went to a nursing session in May and they said the application process is all online now, but nothing has changed. I am nervous that they can't their stuff together in time and make us attend another session to get an application. Has anyone else been concerned about this?

Went to an info session today. Applications will be online in August.

I applied for Fall 2011 with my pre-reqs still in progress, and I didn't get in. My letter from UCF said everyone who was accepted had above a 3.2 (or something like that) and had all of their pre-reqs done. My SSC letter said that everyone who got in had their pre-reqs finished in the Spring of 2010.

I'm on the waiting list for Valencia (Spring 2013, which apparently really means Fall 2012), and I'm finishing my AA and my last UCF pre-req (Chemistry) this semester.

Does anyone know what the Evening/Weekend schedule looks like? I work three 12s at the hospital now, so I'm trying to figure out if I should even apply to SSC again, or if the Evening/Weekend program schedule will cause me to have to change my work schedule.

Well, since I only finished my prereqs in spring 2011 it doesn't seem as if I have a chance of getting in even though my GPA is 3.6.

SSC is trying to phase out the phrase "evening/weekend" since it's pretty inaccurate. The clinical schedule is pretty much the same as the day track, starting as early as 6:45 am and classes can start as early as 2 pm from what I remember. I'm worried about my work schedule too. With those random class and clinical hours I don't know how possible it will be to work.

Hello all,

I am also applying for the Spring 2012 for a generic RN track. I am so nervous to take the TEAS exam. Has any of you already taken it? How was it?

I'm nervous too. I've been putting if off for so long, but we are running out of time. :uhoh3:
